The chiseled section looks a LOT more like the second facade version in that first pic. We might be all right after all.

^Someone else posted the habitable roof height is now topped out; all that remains is the crown and spire.

D'oh.. 100 Park Ave is a handsome tower, and is easily one of the best looking buildings of its era. I guess the silver lining here is that the old facade isn't getting stripped off, and perhaps once the now-new skin becomes obsolete they can take that off and maybe restore the original..?

The new cladding on 100 Park looks cheap and uninteresting. Should have cleaned the existing facade and restore it to its original glory. Really is a significant bldg given it style and the time it was build. Now I'm afraid it will slide further into undeserving obscurity.

Thats a good way to look at it. I am going to look at it as the old facade is taking a vacation or something.

MAn, i love that tower!!! but it is not considered a NYC "landmark" so the owners pretty much can do as they please..but if the plans go further, inst something we the public can do????

This is OFF-TOPIC so I should start a new 100 PArk Ave thread

I think the public can sign petitions in order to have the building preserved. But for something like that, you would need the whole population of Manhattan Island. There's much more to it, i'm just not sure though.
