Ooh. I hope they have that Asian grocery store I saw in Portland. What was it called? Hijinkis? Something like that.

Anyway, they sell Fish Jerky which is actually very good, as well as this Japanese soda that comes in a glass bottle. You punch out a marble to open it, and when you tip the soda over, the marble plugs the hole so you don't drain the contents all over your desk.

The Japanese are truely more advanced than we are!

But they only have 3 stores, and they're only in the northwest, so I doubt we'd be getting one year. But that store was pretty cool. Imagine a Smith's but all asian products.

An 80,000 square foot restaraunt??? Thats like the size of half a Wal-Mart. I can't imagine a restaraunt that big.

Maybe that's not the one.. you said Portland and that store is only in Seattle area

Seems like the numbers might have been switched. A 27,000 sq. ft. restaurant and an 80,000 sq. ft. grocery would make much more sense.

Isn't there a huge Chinese restaurant on that old site of Chuck E. Cheese, right around 4500 S and State? I think it's called the Chinese Buffet.

although it was called Plum Alley.

I remember one of the newspaper articles--about this project--stating that South Salt Lake has a large Chinese ethnic population.

I just checked out the NW page and saw the huge development in Bellevue(sp?) by Wasatch Partners. Why the hell aren't they doing something like that in SLC?

It's a great development. All they've done here is buy existing buildings and talk about how there are "big plans" in store. WTF. Why haven't we at least seen some renderings, something. Is the housing demand in Bellevue that much greater than it is in SLC?

Yes.. I am a bit late to the topic, so I'll consolidate my thoughts. I have never seen a China town with a warehouse or strip mall. I hope it can expand quickly to become a destination!

Also, there is a giant Supermarket called "Lee Lee's" In Chandler, AZ that is fantastic. Check it out if you are ever in the area!

is mclelland the street inbetween the old granite furniture building and the pei wei? Also is the parking underground?

if this is correct then I have to say I quite like this development, the red mountain company was the company that wanted sugarhouse to retain its charm and feel, it is not the company who wanted all the business kicked out.

I am still a little confused about where this is, but if it is where I think it is than this will be a great improvement upon the abandoned grantie furniture building and warehouse.
