Sorry, i guess that was a tidbit of info i missed.

Yes that is OMP3, some in the OMP thread have estimated it at 850-900 feet but really the only thing we can say for certain is that it appears taller than museum park west.

Kudos to Alex again on the pictures!

and all i meant about the 'this is chicago' thing was this: a lot of people in this city seem to reject urbanity. it seems as though they want the comfort and sleepyness of the suburbs, but they want that inside the city. maybe i'm wrong, but when i look at the state of chicago over-all, i see a city that is becoming a townhome and car centric place that is becoming a very (midwestern) city. i don't want to get to deep with my comments, so yeah...
How long have you lived in Chicago? Did you notice the whole gated-community and strip mall craze of the 80s and 90s? The city has come a long way, and is still improving in this regard...

Could this OMP 3 tower actually be set back to the S from Roosevelt? That's what that last drawing seems to indicate... Now that the tower due S of OMPW has been canceled, there is a big gap between OMP/OMPW and Museum Park Tower IV, so a OMP 3 set back from Roosevelt would have clear lake views on the east. Hope this isn't the case, it'll mess up the streetwall, but it makes sense from a developer viewpoint...

"OMP3" or whatever it will be called looks SWEET!!! This one holds alot of promise. Based on the side by side comparison with OMPW at 620ft it looks like this one would be 750-800ft. My best guess is 770-780ft.

It was also his idea to bring in a number of different architects, to mix things up a bit, and I believe he was the one who chose them. So, the towers might not have all been SOM designs - in fact, I can't remember why, but there was some political reason why SOM was only doing the planning and not any of the actual design work.
Graham called on Beeby, Ezra Gordon et. al. and gave them a very short time to submit their proposals. Program was well defined but no consideration was given to create a unified design concept (except brick color). Graham designed The Terraces at Polk and State, the only decent building of the lot.

Jaroslaw, No I don't think so your looking at a setback tower here. This is the 3 Towers of the South Grant Park Wall. My name for this one is 2MP Two museum park and the next one is 2MPW Two museum pak west - anyway. It's not being positioned east of Roosevelt in the rendering . This is my take. We are looking at the north face of 2MP to the right is OPMW and to the left is the massing form for 2MPW at Michigan and Roosevelt Road

It's fun to dream sometimes.
ha! 10 years ago, it was dangerous to walk down by halsted and maxwell. The University saved that neighborhood for sure. Little Italy, however, I can't speak of, because I really have no idea how much was demolished for the University. But, walking through it almost everyday, it seems to be doing quite well. I'd consider living anywhere between the east and west campuses of UIC

But, having said all that, who can say if it wouldn't have been better to have it built at dearborn park? Maybe. But I think UIC is pretty convenient where it is, and still really well connected to downtown. its only about a mile away

Pardon me... You're right, that's a comparison to OMPW, not OMP....

Alderman opposes demolition of Lake Shore Athletic Club
(Crain’s) — Alderman Brendan Reilly says he wants to save the Lake Shore Athletic Club building, and has brokered a 60-day delay for the proposed demolition.

Northwestern University, which owns the facility at 850 N. Lake Shore Drive, has a contract to sell the building to Chicago developer Fifield Cos., which has plans to build a new condominium building there.

Reilly, who wouldn’t previously disclose his position, in a press release Tuesday says he believes the building can and should be saved.

“Throughout this process, Northwestern and Fifield have argued there is absolutely no economically viable re-use option that could save the Lake Shore Athletic Club from demolition,” Reilly says in the statement. “Frankly, I am not persuaded by that argument. After meeting with many experienced architects, zoning attorneys, developers and urban planning consultants, I believe economically viable re-use options do, in fact, exist.”

Fifield agreed to pay Northwestern more than $40 million for the building, which has sat vacant for several years after the university stopped using it as a dorm.

Fifield president Rick Cavenaugh says a planned development agreement put in place when a new condo tower was built nearby restricts re-use of the Lake Shore Athletic building to residential. Mr. Cavenaugh says he’s confident that another buyer won’t be able to come up with a viable alternative.

^^^ Wow, great news, I like this Reilly guy, he seems pretty smart. You know the whole ask people who know what they are talking about before taking a stance thing, I hope he keeps this attitude up throughout his reign! (this is chicago we are talking about, so it is a "reign" not a "term")

Yes, thats great news. Its good to see that this new guy is willing to do his homework and check things out instead of just siding with the developers. That whole proposal sounds just too stupid anyway.

BTW the link to the article budman posted is here:

It lists a website http://www.buildingcomedy.com/.

The tag line is "57 new stories in the city, which one is yours?" I'm guessing "stories" has a double meaning - 57 floors and 57 cutesy vignettes about urban living. No rendering yet.

There is also a companion site for the teaser marketing campaign – www.buildingdrama.com. This is a very unusual marketing strategy for what I assumed was an ultra-high end condo tower – it would be especially different for a Related Midwest marketing campaign. There even seems to be some movie-themed tie-in. Not the kind of website I imagine the typical suburban high net worth empty nester being terribly taken with. It seems more like a typical strategy for marketing a luxury rental tower or perhaps a condo development targeted to hip young professionals, and not the type of demographic I would have expected to generally be able to afford the very high price points which I would have assumed would be offered at The Peshtigo. Interesting……I can’t wait to see this all unfold….

Also, I do have to say – if Related Midwest really is preparing to launch The Peshtigo later this year, that is a very bold move overall. I’d figure they’d just about have their hands full with the marketing campaign now in full gear on that little (I’m estimating here) $450-500 million project known as Canyon Ranch Living Chicago.
I like bold moves, I hope they move ahead and deliver on The Peshtigo!

Great news on Reilly's position indeed. Perhaps more than anything, I'm happy because this represents a Lucien Lagrange POS that won't be built!!

[QUOTE=Eventually...Chicago;2943691]These have been flying around the OMP thread and they should be posted here!

Very, very interesting. To me it doesn't look much higher than OMP E..........I'd put it around 750'........I'll take that though....
