Can anyone tell me something about the cranes in the floor and how do they pour around them? Lokking at the 2nd crane in the picture above is what i am talking about. As an Ex-Electircal Engineer I am curious how structural engineers do this.

Where's 300 N LaSalle?

I appreciate the context shots, SolarWind. They probably helped a lot of out-of-towners get a feeling for how the river corridor is being entirely reinvented with amazing buildings sprouting on virtually every block.

I hadn't noticed 300 coming up from the Trump site, but it's a nice observation. The most interesting thing is that it might only be visible from there for a matter of months, before the 353 N. Clark tower takes its place. Amazing days in Chicago!

They have just started with the the steel sheets ( coffer dam ? ) at 353 N Clark, and are still actively sinking caissons. It will be more that a few months before it starts, and by that time 300 N LaSalle will be really tall.

They are assembling the second crane top today.

As some of you may know, I work for Kirkland & Ellis. I received an email today in regard to our move to 300 N. Lasalle and thought I'd share a few tidbits. We are scheduled to relocate in the first quarter of 2009.

Builders continue to work on pouring the concrete core of the building. It takes about 1 week to pour a floor and 15 floors have been completed so far.

-The anticipated completion date of this phase is first quarter of 2008.

-The installation of steel will begin in late June/early July.

-The installation of the curtain wall is scheduled to begin in September.
