Hopefully the delay isn't to bad. I would honestly hope that the new partner looks at the market and decides to revive the 29 story version of the tower. They still have the plans on file for all of the different versions.

I think the delay will be just over a month with a ground breaking on the 15th of August. That way they start construction the day before the Key Bank building falls.

...that's what's so frustrating about all this...the market in SLC is so ripe for construction of office towers it's ridiculous, and yet we're not seeing anything happening in the core. Beyond the delays HP has seen, why isn't Earl Holding (The Devil) doing something with the huge tracts of land he owns at the south end of downtown? When are we going to see something happen to the other surface lots? When is Cowboy Partners going to get crackin' on their tower?

I feel like we're on the cusp of something big, and maybe the City Creek project is the catalyst that will get take all these other projects from paper to reality. But we're not there yet, and it's driving me crazy. I just don't want the moment to pass, and find that Sandy has become the biggest power player in the Salt Lake Valley.

I HATE Sandy. Nnnnngh.

I think SLC has dominance over Sandy in office space for about 2 years at the current rate. That is if no office tower is built in SLC. That is a really sad state to be in.

Decentralized office space will make commutes longer and sprawl worse.

well acording to this graphic, the floor to floor height is 13 ft. At 21 stories, that's 273 ft. Someone earlier had said that the building would be taller than Utah One (350+). where is the other 80 ft coming from?

I have talked to Jeff Rossi who is over the leasing of the building and he has stated that it will be just short of 400ft.

So either he is out of the loop or the paper has some incorrect information.

Both of which are possible.

I think Comrade stated we would be lucky if it was 300ft. I think he might be right about it.

On HPs website it states that the first floor will be double height. so at 13 ft/floor that would be 286. I think Comrade said the plans showed it being 313 ft. which seems reasonable when considering the utility floor and architectural structure.

If you look at the list of 295 ft + buildings in the country that sounds alot more consistent with what other buildings are. Over 350 feet for 21 stories would be way too high. So either it is going to be more than 21 stories and and our new 3rd tallest or it will be 21 stories and about 300 ft, at least that's my guess.

Also that article stated that Hanson was planning on pulling out before the frackus with Rocky and he really did violate the terms of his agreement with the redevelopment agency. It sounds to me like he planned on getting in Rockys face before it actually happened. Rocky acted like a 4th grader in response, but Hanson was in the wrong, and seemed to be using Rocky as an excuse to bail on the project. That's my take anyway.

I just hope it gets built soon, and is at least 295 ft so we get a building on the highrise construction list.

I think Hansen was going to pull out of the project to work more on his 4th South and State project.

I remember an article a while ago where he stated that he was going to build what would be the tallest building in the state but it wouldn't look taller then the COB due to the contours of the valley.

That was the same guy? Well, I hope he still wants to come play when Rocky's gone. Even if he is a jerk, if he'll build something, I say bring it.

That was the plan at first, but Hannsen isn't going to build anything there til Rocky is out of office. With our luck Hannsen will build his tallest tower in Sandy but break it down to six offices buildings each at five-stories tall .

Right now Sandy is under going at least two business park projects each with three buildings at five stories tall. That's good for Sandy, but bad for downtown Salt Lake.

The city released video of the "fight" between Anderson and Dell Loy Hansen. This pretty much proves Rocky was not the aggressor, as you can clearly see him trying to remove himself from the scene, but Hansen wouldn't let him.

S.L. City releases video of Rocky-Hansen confrontation

http://www.sltrib.com/ci_6143700

Claiming developer Dell Loy Hansen has made "false and misleading statements" regarding a confrontation in City Hall on Tuesday, Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson released a security camera video Thursday evening that shows a portion of the skirmish.
The one-minute, 16-second clip, which does not capture any sound, shows Hansen briskly walk toward the mayor and a prolonged chest-to-chest argument as a half dozen people along with two reporters watch from the middle of the hallway.

In the final seconds, the video shows Anderson yank his arm away from Hansen who crowds the mayor while both men make their way slowly down the hall.

In a statement released with the recording, Anderson says the security camera "gives a true picture of events."
"Mr. Hansen's aggressive and threatening conduct, and his loud, abusive harangue, were witnessed by several people, including two newspaper reporters who were only a few feet away," the statement reads.
Reporters trailing the hallway "harangue" heard Anderson say "I will kick your ass," but that came after Hansen stalked then grabbed the mayor by the arm. Anderson also did not repeatedly yell "I'm going to sue you," but said "sue me" mockingly.

The mayor also released partial transcripts of interviews Hansen gave KSL radio and KUTV on Wednesday - with comments Anderson takes issue with put in bold. They include: "As we walked out, Rocky moved to my shoulder and I turned to him and said, 'Rocky, why didn't you call me?' . . . He was in the aggressive, I simply asked, 'Rocky, you could have called me. We don't need to go through the political theater.'"
Hansen also told KSL the mayor was "a foot and a half away," and that Anderson "raised his finger and said 'I'm going to kick your ass. I'm going to kick your ass.'"

"And I reach up and put my arm forward and touched his forearm, he said, 'I'm going to sue you. I'm going to sue you,' " the transcript continues.
Anderson did not comment directly Thursday. But his spokesman said the mayor released the video "because of Dell Loy Hansen's complete misrepresentation of the facts."

So there you have it. Some people here were quick to throw this all on Rocky, when in reality the confrontation was instigated by Hansen, and then he went and LIED to the media about it. Rocky clearly tried walking away, but couldn't because Hansen would not allow him. I'm willing to bet any one of us would do the same thing Rocky did. The funniest aspect of this all though, is that he would actually go and lie about the whole situation. If he's willing to lie about this, who's to say he wouldn't lie about refinancing an RDA loan?

I'd have to disagree. Although It might be good for Sandy now, in the long run, It will hurt everyone in Salt Lake County.

I'm not sure where we disagree here. I agree that Sandy getting these buildings isn't good for downtown or anyone.
We both agree on the same thing.

Doesn't change the fact that Rocky is bad for business development in SLC... This is what Rocky drives developers (and most all people) to do. I would jack that fool in the face if I had the chance, and Im not a violent person...

AND THIS IS ALL SMOKE IN FRONT OF THE REAL HYPOCRITE, ROCKY ANDERSON!!!

HAHA, he is trying to bring up how Hanson is STEALING from the city, guess what, at least what Hanson does for the city has economic benefit.

Retard Anderson has probably wasted more than whatever Wasatch Partners has "stolen" (let me pause and laugh for a moment) ...from the city on his silly protests and loss of productivity, not to mention the his personal traveling and parties hes thrown attempting to push his loony agenda...

in short, WHAT AN IDIOT!

Poor Wasatch, your head is so far up your own ass you don't even realize when you sound like a complete tool. I think it's great you support STEALING taxpayer dollars and then LYING about it. I don't and unless you have evidence Rocky has wasted more than whatever Wasatch Partners has stolen, which you probably don't, then don't bring it up. You're throwing around a lot of mindless speculation and ignoring the underlying principle in ALL of this. Wasatch Partners tried to SCREW the city and the taxpayers for THEIR own gain, not the city's. And you have the audacity to blame Rocky for it? You're a real piece of work, I'm telling you right now. I've read some bat shit crazy things from you in the past and this one takes the cake.

Can you be any more cliche?

haha, wow, you really have no argument... I guess the fact that Wasatch Partners bought the vacant Wells Fargo Center and FILLED 500,000 sq. ft of empty office space in the downtown core hasn't done any good for the city...

And Im not speculating, this is fact, Rocky has been M.I.A most of his second term on his little escapades around the globe, wasting local taxpayers money on his agenda and lack of productivity.

get a clue comrade...

When did I ever say Wasatch hasn't done any good for the city? But does that give them the right to hold taxpayer dollars hostage and then go refinance a loan without telling the city or paying that loan back? No! And just because they might benefit the city does not mean they should fuck the city while they're doing it. Even Bruce Bingham agrees with Rocky on this and Wasatch was already going to pull out of the HP Tower before this blowup, those are the facts.

And yes you are speculating. You say Rocky has been M.I.A most of his second term? What do you define as most? Because he's been in Salt Lake a hell of a lot more days and weeks than he's been out. In fact, Rocky's spent more time in Salt Lake during his final term than Deedee Corradini, who could barely be found the final year she was in office. Just because Rocky travels does not automatically mean he isn't in Salt Lake most of the time and he's out wasting local taxpayer dollars, since every mayor is afforded a travel budget to begin with.

You tell me to get a clue, and yet you've provided no fact to your assertions. Except that Rocky travels a lot. Well shit, stone the man! Burn him at the stake!

God forbid Rocky actually wants to stand up to corporations that abuse taxpayer dollars. I guess he should just sit by and watch them pillage the RDA, eh? The fact Hansen already backed out of the HP deal, which you conveniently ignore, pretty much shows where his interests lie. Now who needs a clue?

OH! ...do we have to result AGAIN to personal attacks? Can you not handle just debating the issue here? You seem to have a hard time separating your personal feelings from the issues being discussed

And you don't?

Oh that's right, you've never personally insulted me, eh? You're a bigger man than I'll ever be. I bow to your prowess.

Oh wait, you can't go a post without calling Rocky a loser, a retard or an idiot, my bad.
