You must have attended at the same time I did... those are familiar names. I'm sure at least one of them still haunts the halls there... they're practically tenured.

Dreger the history teacher? He was at Balfour when I graduated in '04 and close to retirement...if he's still teaching that's probably where he's at now.

It makes no sense to have 4 rinks built on the Superstore site when there was an article in (I think) Saturday's paper regarding the 6 rink complex to be built on the Exhibition Grounds. That old Superstore building should become an Ikea or a new Stadium for the Roughriders. I know I am dreaming on both accounts but it's good to dream.

Why do we have millions for upgrades to the ex and agridome but none for community associations or arts projects or housing in the inner city or housing inspection for rental properties ?

I am also curious as to why the First Nation Friendship Centre proposal for the old SS was turned down, yet hockey rinks get approval ?

We do have and are spending millions on inner city housing and all kinds of housing programs.

As for Superstore I can't comment on that but would imagine that Westfair foods will sell that building to anyone who has the cash. I would imagine the 10 million asking price is a fair bit for a Friendship Centre.

Ahh, I was talking about the city spending the millions on these projects and from my understanding the FHQ Tribal Council had more then enough money to by SS, the request was denied by the City.

The city won't be spending that much, the funding for these projects will be mostly coming from the province the feds and private corporations.

How can you be so sure ?

What percentage or dollar amount is the city spending ?

Anything over $15k should be questioned because according the council budget minutes, that is as much as they are willing to increase any spending, except for the mayor and managers offices of course.

The CTV news just confirmed that the SUperstore has been sold. They weren't so sure of its future use.

As well, the proposed development of the Leader building, calls for a Portugese restaurant on the main floor.

Great to hear. Now I'm willing to bet that Quimby will find some reason to bash this news and blame his miserable life on Fiacco once again.

No, I would have preferred the Friendship Centre in that location but anything to make it useful. However, a Neanderthal like yourself might fail to see that some people are able to be pragmatic.
