Although I am disappointed by these latest pictures, I think they are the same as the old ones but without exaggerated colorful lighting reflecting off the panels. Maybe they will be more reflective in person. Still it is just a mall after all so I wasn't expecting a masterpiece. It does have large expanses of glass to view in or out of which will add more energy to the block. I would have loved to see the earlier (Ralph Johnson?) design with the LED's. There still is a chance that the residential towers could turn out nice and the CBS tower is looking good so far... Am I mistaken or wasn't there supposed to be an outdoor area on the roof?
^ This is a chance that the residential tower(s) could turn out to be decent. I'm really hoping for that, as I agree with just about everyone here that the base is kind of a mess. I agree - I think the office tower (although clearly too short) will turn out just fine, so my hope is for all of the towers of this development to salvage it from being a complete wreck on the design front.
R Johnson's design for the base was so much better than what Mills VE'd out of Gensler. You're right - there was originally supposed to be some sort of green, rooftop public space, however I don't know anything about it at this point...

It's simple, really - try not to design or build trash.
Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably will themselves not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die. - Daniel Burnham
Also, while I didn't have my camera (with the nice weather I probably should start carrying it again), they have started putting glass in on the Washington side of the CBS tower.

Is it likely that we will be seeing all three towers and the 4 story retail going up all at the same time. This project is so confusing to me.
Me too. I hope this second building is at least 50 feet taller than the first one; I think a terraced look might compensate for the project's other shortcomings.
There needs to be a sign that says:
"This foodcourt is for 30-somethings only. If you are old as dirt (above 30) or a kid (below 30) your ass will be kicked the hell out. Thank you. -- Management"
^^^^ Yeah, referring to all the renders, you could also put up, 'Only whites may roam the streets near this building ', + 'asian females and token black guy, report to the food court'.
