It's not even being marketed yet, so it's far away from construction. Once they finish The Fairbanks, I assume they'll move on to the St. Clair at the other end of the site. If the St. Clair sells well, then you can expect (maybe) some news on Tower 3. Otherwise, you'd better get used to construction fencing for awhile.

St. Claire will be the next one to go up, out of the 3. They recently have been sending out advertisements to join the VIP list for those who may be interested in buying.

But using that argument is like having a doctor pull your mother off of life support because he thinks she's ugly and not worth spending $2 million a year to keep on life support. Next thing you'll be telling us that we should get over Marshall Field's changing to Macy's because they have more sales.
Ummm.... I live five minutes away from the post office (rode my bike down by it today, in fact) and walk by this building everyday as i cross the chicago river to union station. Buildings aren't people. Ugly, useless ones ought to be torn down. And yes, you should get over marshall field's changing to macy's.

In regards to the post office, isn't it being used for something right now, namely the filming of the next Batman movie?

Now they can't tear it down! What will our city be without the Gotham National Bank Building to drive under...

They should make the old chicago postoffice building into a tv/movie studio. Its big enough to create whole moviesets and it would attract more movies to be filmed here. I remember awhile back movie companies were looking for something in chicago.

Considering the Film digially adds 1000s of buildings ontop of Lake Michigan, I think Batman III will be fine.

Yes, that's exactly right.

Nice job. I remember seeing an older version of this building that was shorter but had a more dramatic base and also some spires (I think) at the top. Anyway, it's still a good development, the only thing that's kind of bad is the loss of the old house.

Is that the corner of 68th Street that they're showing in the render? In that case, it would be two grand old houses coming down for this.

I think the architecture is rather blah, but I guess I should be pleased that it's not another concrete box.

Thanks for the render BVic.

Can we change "Cityfront Plaza - Tower II on the left" on the first page to its proper name, "The St. Clair"?

^ While I'm always a fan of highrises and increased density, is there really any need to demolish stuff to build them on the south side? I mean, the south side is full of vacant lots.

I feel like a broken record. We can make this argument over and over again and it will never matter. Stupid shit never fails to happen--it defines our species.

Thanks for the rendering, Victor

^ On a side note, are those townhomes I'm seeing fronting the base on the right side?

Also, am I right in assuming that little is known about the status of this project?

Those are townhouses.

It seems that Lee Bey has already written about what will be torn down:
http://www.leebey.com/observed7182006.html

The new tower definitely isn't ground breaking architecture.. but it is somewhat fresh for that neighborhood. I prefer the existing building(s?) remain though I don't think there are actually very many vacant blocks near 67th st beach..in this localized area where this tower is planned. It is pretty dense and built up.
