My primary concern about the Clare is what it will look like from the west..... i.e. the potential for a huge, blank, windowless 600ft tall concrete wall

I think X/O is selling well. Tower II sales begin in a few weeks. I really don't see this project having trouble securing construction financing and breaking ground by early 2008...

But looking good, definitely. The precast has me very cautiously optimistic.

I'm much more optimistic about The Clare these days - seeing the model and some of the early construction photos has me pretty jazzed about this one - I think I was just disappointed for quite a while after seeing what could have been - the earlier design of the project that was very modern. However, I have a feeling that the design we're ending up with will turn out very nice....

They are selling well - I think the developer mentioned that they have almost 150 units under contract for Tower I. Also, I think I remember hearing a few months ago that they were aiming to begin construction in late summer/early fall of this year.

The tracks are there too actually. They are just colored a suspiciously green color of yellow making it look like they blend naturally into the lush greeness of the park.

I don't remeber what they're called, but there are threee buildings, all in identical sytle, shiny class white accents, they have very vertical accents nea the roof and a roof flare on top.

THis pic is from 180degrees the wrong angle,

but it seems there are more there in the pic and when I drove past it a coupe months ago.

No, the tracks in the park are there, but not the ones along the side of the Central Station. Those are complete grassed over...

Arquitectonica coming to Chicago
Crain's Chicago Business is reporting that Florida-based Peebles Corporation has hired Miami's Arquitectonica to design a new $215,000,000, 50-story ultra luxury condo/hotel on the current site of a Walgreens, Subway and Radio Shack at 300 North Michigan. Like Trump Tower, the Chicago Spire, and the Ritz-Carlton Residences, the project is targeted at the city's apparently inexhaustible supply of the super-rich, with prices at $800 to $1,200 per square foot and the most extravagant unit at $10,000,000. I guess you shouldn't count on Subway returning.

They did that in their other renders too. It'd be pretty sweet if reality would catch up to those renders.

^ Hell is freezing over. Is this possibly going to be an interesting Loewenberg building? I am really digging the Skybridge-like corridors.

I don't know what's come over these guys, but with the current trends (Aqua, Arquitectonica), I have to say Thank You to the Loewenberg/Magellan crowd.

From glancing at their web site, it appears the Michigan Avenue project will be one of their largest and most expensive to-date.

I received an x/o flyer today in the mail. It says that tower one is mostly sold and that tower two will begin shortly. I'll scan it in when i get a chance.
