quick question for all...

Does the map I put together still function?

It has got so bloated with projects, that I think I broke it. Please shoot me a PM if you'd like to answer,
or any other input you have is also appreciated. danke!

Fine, as long as we dont lose either one.

By the way things have gone lately with the Arena, Aura, and SacaTowers, Downtown Plaza, and K street I think both of these projects are a long shot. That Indian Museum thing along the American River is dying a slow death, too.

Just about anything proposed in Sac is a long shot.

Two projects that were built in record time: the Railroad trestle, and a McDonalds on Folsom blvd at 57th street near my part of town. They completely demolished the old McDonalds, and built from scratch a new one almost twice the size. The whole process took 4mos or less.

"Local Nimby Group gives their blessing to McDonalds expansion. The Nimby group believes fine dining establishments are needed on Folsom Blvd."

It's always neat when I stumble into a cross road somewhere beyond the city limits that reminds me of home.

^Many California Cities (and even in Portland!) have a Sacramento Street. It's cool that the name is used in such a distant place without the historical Spanish influence...

We could put together a photo album of Sacramento Avenues from around the country. Offhand the one I can think of is in Berkeley. There must be more.

I believe what you are referring to is the project by Mark Lucas. A good article about it here

yeah, off the top of my head: S.F., Los Angeles (I cheated and checked mapquest

), Lodi, Stockton, Fresno, PDX.

hrmm...According to mapquest, Sacramento itself doesn't have a street of the same name.

Nice photos Innov8! I especially like the last couple at dawn (or dusk?) with the cranes and red safety lights glowing at the top of the buildings.

They're everywhere--obviously, the most famous: Sacramento St. in San Francisco, a major thoroughfare. And even a Sacramento St. in Cambridge, MA. Sacramento Ave. in Sacramento itself was renamed Martin Luther King many years ago.

if anyone remembers... there was a really funny article in the News & Review about a year ago, where a writer traveled to other Sacramento cities in the US.

There's a Sacramento Avenue in West Sacramento.

The funny thing is that it's the center portion of a major thoroughfare with three names. If you drive west from Sacramento, over the I Street Bridge and into West Sacramento, you'll find yourself on C Street. If you continue driving west, along the winding C Street, you'll quickly find yourself on Sacramento Avenue. And if you continue going west for a couple more miles, you'll find yourself in front of IKEA, on Reed Avenue.

C St. > Sac Ave. > Reed Ave.

Ahhh that's right, i almost forgot about Sacramento Ave. becoming MLK..

Good trivia Sacamenna kid.

The Sacramento Ave here in Chicago runs North/South, some being mostly residential. But it's a fairly long thoroughfare (as are most streets on the Chicago grid).

I took that picture at Devon and Sacramento Ave.... (For those familar with Chicago.)

On the block: National real estate firm Eastdil Secured has landed a plum job: selling off the vast Sacramento office holdings formerly owned by Equity Office Properties Trust.

The local portfolio -- consisting of 38 buildings totaling about 2.7 million square feet of space -- was included in the recent $39 billion sale of EOP to the Blackstone Group.

Now Blackstone is selling off portions of its prize -- including, we hear, all the Sacramento-area buildings as a single package.

A Blackstone spokesman confirms that the local properties are "being marketed," but couldn't verify that Eastdil has the sales job.

The likely price for the local properties, which include the Wells Fargo Center at 400 Capitol Mall? In excess of $750 million, most likely.

Obviously, the buyer will be a big player -- a REIT or a large private equity fund. One that wants, in one swoop, to become Sacramento's largest private office landlord.

Making a move: Speaking of office space, the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency has been quietly looking for new digs for its 130 downtown employees.

Its administration building, at Seventh and I streets, has outdated plumbing and needs a "gut rehab," says Larry Goins, the agency's director of real estate and construction services.

"That's the driving force" behind the planned move, he says, but the agency also wants to consolidate staff now scattered in four downtown locations.

The local office of Grubb & Ellis recently was hired to find about 50,000 square feet of space in the downtown core, not too far from county and city offices served by the agency.

"We've been told it's very doable," Goins says, which means a move could happen as early as year's end.

anyone know if we're expecting news on Lot X anytime soon? It seemed like they were going to announce something quickly, then no news.... i also thought that the sale was to raise critical funds for the Crocker Expansion, and that project is just starting now.

Here is a nice looking rendering of the Natomas building from this weeks biz journal.

It reminds me of a cross between the buildings already in that area and a the old Siebel building in Emeryville right off of 80 before you make that turn toward the Bay Bridge. This one seems a little bigger (wider) than Siebel, but they both look around the same number of stories though.
