150 East Ontario should be moved to the "Site Prep/Demo" list. Demolition started already and half of two of the existing buildings are already gone (top floors gone)

Yeah I know...
I just don't think it's going to be another Grand Plaza. At least, I think it has the potential to be much better.
I don't want to give up on the style. It can be done right.

Now that said, I would be completely unopossed to a couple glassy highrises on those parking lots at State and Chicago.

I already corrected myself on the last page after going to the site, but whatever. That caisson is blocked by the south wall of that road from my balcony so it wasnt visible. This and Aqua started within days of each other, which is sweet. This boom is amazing.

Just to clarify: "precast concrete" refers to panels or structural elements that are shipped to the site, already dry and hard. Almost all the concrete in River North is "poured-in-place" as opposed to "precast". Park Tower has precast panels, as does the new Marriott Suites on Dearborn.

Even so, I prefer those buildings to a lot of the stuff built a few decades ago in Edgewater.

You may be right about the freight tunnel.

Here are a few shots that I took of the Farwell Building over the weekend.

For those who didn't know, the windows on the top really aren't windows anymore. It's just plywood painted black with white stripes painted on it to represent mullions.

And as you can see, the slate roof is being held together with chicken wire.

I'm certainly not celebrating anything, as I don't like the design of what's replacing the buildings that are there. I'm somewhat comforted because I have definite doubts about the viability of the proposed high-rise. I hope it's in-store for a re-design/re-programming, hopefully even with a new developer.
I also hope if the proposed tower plans fall through that another project replaces it rapidly so we're not left with an empty lot for years...
