The problem with West Loop Gate is that it is mostly planned as an office district. With high downtown vacancy rates in office space, that means that most West Loop office towers are on hold or cancelled by now.

Fortunately, there are several residential projects north of Washington that have a good chance of being built.

What a joke - everybody knows this is a done deal - I'm no lawyer but I think it's very clear any monkey business by the alderman - holding the permits, trying to rezone the property, etc would be vey illegal. I'll tell you what, this particular breed of Nimby - these "historic" prairie avenue clowns are a particularly dangerous breed and they must be neutralized quickly...

There's nothing over there worth taking a picture of. And I don't believe that it will become an active and vibrant neighborhood. 90% of the new buildings have no type of real retail space and it severly lacks any resturantes. At one time there was hope, but that was all dashed when the whole area was downzoned because the dumb ass alderman listened to the residents complaints about tall buildings.

the john buck co. proposal for a 20 story condo building at 605 davis street in downtown evanston appears to be dead. apparently they failed to reach an agreement with chase bank for an easement on the west side of the propoerty. the propert owner has elected to build a 1 story retail building instead.

a one story structure seems like an under-use for this piece of property, but it's been vacant for so long that any development, even just a landscaped parking lot, would be a HUGE improvement over what's there now.

Randolph Street and Lake Street are home to a growing nightlife/restaurant scene. Halsted runs through Greektown. Its not all quiet. Give it some time, retailers cant ignore it forever. All of these new loft conversions and new midrises will continue to add more residents. Dont give up hope yet.

757 Orleans looks to be either under construction or well near it. The caison crane has been there for a bit, but this morning is was running and from the Ravenswood, I could see plenty re-bar cage thingies they chuck down the drilled hole.

Someone with more sense may want to confirm.
