Come on, just give us a general direction. Loop, North Side, South, West? Will it be 1,000 to the roof or will it have a spire? Will it involve demolishing an existing structure or filling in a surface lot?
/there's one behind Depaul in the Loop that is the perfect spot for a supertall, it would have park views above a certain height too.
Is it a building with floors or is it just an observation tower?
And please also give us the following hint: You said the building was unheard of - is the site also 'unheard' of? I.e., has its site ever been discussed here as a site for any other project in the past?
I expect another >1,000' tall previously unheard of proposal should be announced in the coming months. Sorry to drop this as an almost tease post, but I just wanted to give a heads up. I will say that it is not down near Roosevelt/Michigan area.
Can you at least tell us if it's a decent design? With what you know, would you want this design to be built in Chicago? Is it worthy of us?

My understanding is that SOM has a tall building in the pipe line for Chicago...I have no idea what the site is or who the client is...but I understand it will be announced this spring. If I had to guess, I would say wolf point for the site.
I also have no idea of how tall it is, what the program is, or what it looks like.
