The adjustment of 2000-2003 involved an 80% drop on the Nasdaq and something like 40% of the Dow (vague memory). Today was something like 3.9% and 3.1%.

Was it a one-day reaction to China, or a sign of a major correction? Who knows.

For investors, this afternoon was simply a great time to buy. Regardless of what stocks do tomorrow (my prediction: rise of 1%), stocks this afternoon were bought at a steep discount compared to yesterday.

actually when adjusted with inflation the DOW is the lowest its been in like 15 years. A resession is predicted as there is normally one when there are lots of IPO's and this year there is a record like 160 IPO's scheduled

I've never heard of the Dow Jones being compared with inflation before, but meh... If there's going to be a recession, it'll be because consumer spending will finally slow down to more reasonable levels due to ever-increasing debtloads, and therefore durable goods orders will drop like a rock.

Yes, if the American consumer ever adopted intelligent financial practices, the economy would be doomed in the short term. But don't worry, they'll keep buying TVs on credit.

Why should consumers do it when they can't get the gov't to do it?

Why should the government do it, when the people that elect them don't do it?

Maybe the developer should put the Teatro Tower on his or her credit card already and get this thing built.

^ Would you rather have a new 44-story tower with a spire top, or a parking lot?

Let's pretend the Four Seasons was announced two years ago as a 34-story tower. Then, just recently, as they are on the verge of breaking ground, they announce the project will be a 44-story tower instead. You, and everyone else on this forum would be going apeshit and posting dancing fruit and large-font exclamations all over the place.

Let's keep this in some sort of perspective, shall we? We're getting a frickin' 44-story tower. Be happy.

I always knew you were good for something.

But on a serious note; Denver will have it's day and time again when the "TALL ONE'S" will be rising... Until that day, I am perfectly happy with the 15-50 story range of infill in the City that is currently taking place. And ANY empty parking lot turned into a tower? Is like a freakin orgasim! Okay I went to far now...

Yes! Anyho...anyone have any idea for why Four Seasons AND 1401 Lawrence would be so apprehensive to update their renderings on their websites? Teatro obviously needs to as they have chopped off six floors and slaughtered the once beautiful crown of FS, and 1401 Lawrence has a 20-foot sign on their property with NO PICTURE WHATSOEVER! Call me stupid, but I think a rendering on a sign for a building you want to construct would be a great attention-grabber. People like picures! I guarantee their would be hieghtened interest for dwelling-lookers downtown if it was more public that there was a 51-story tower going up. Same with Spire...just a random thought...

Hard to say...380 feet for 31 residential floors is pretty high though...like 12-foot ceilings. I'm sure a lot of that height comes from the slanted roof on top for the penthouses, and a 20-foot or so lobby perhaps...
