I noticed you were from SC, so I don't know the age of your local Dillard's stores, but in the Atlanta area, they're all fairly new. The reason I point this out is because the Atlantic Station store resembles the interior of essentially every other Dillard's store in the Atlanta area. Ignoring the central atrium in the AS store, if you were blindfolded and released in an Atlanta area Dillard's, you would have no idea if you were in the Perimeter store, the Mall of Georgia store, or the AS store.
Although I praise them for investing in Atlantic Station, I feel very let down by that store. Leading up to the grand opening, Dillard's and Atlantic Station officials kept referring to that store as their new flagship location. When you think of any other department store's flagship location (Macy's in Herald Square, the former Rich's in Atlanta, or the former Marshall Field's in Chicago), they are always more of a destination than their normal big-boxes in the suburbs. However, the only thing that differentiates this Dillard's from their other newer prototype locations in suburban Atlanta is that it is clad in brick instead of EIFS!
Although it probably has nothing to do with the AS location's current success, or lack thereof, I feel that so much is lacking in the design of such an important location in their chain.
