Have they left the south tower crane standing? I read somewhere that construction on the south tower is expected to formally begin (continue) this year...

Glashaus

It sounds like the developer of Glashaus - Piedmont - has a very aggressive timetable planned for construction of this one. The project unmistakenly (25 stories, 262 units, demolition) showed up on Bidclerk.com today with a projected construction start of March - of this year! Presumably, demolition is what is actually planned to begin in March...

Chicago now has 6 buildings 700ft or taller under construction with at least 1 more (Aqua) to begin soon! Chicago has only 13 complete right now and has never had this many under construction at one time. Let the boom continue!
and ....

GO BEARS!

Do you know where exactly this building would be located?

The Student Center is planned for 8th Street and South Wabash. It is not currently funded and is not likely to be built for a few years.

There are long range plans to develop the "Sculpture Park" at 11th and South Wabash into a 12-18 story Performance Arts complex.

The most viable Columbia project is at 16th and South State. A lowrise Media Production studio.

sorry for the misinformation

I've been trying to answer posts during studio

but I'm a little cramped on time

it is a long way off, but something described as iconic and eye catching on the website, with the possibility of a signature architect I think is worth noting

Get the powers that be to give a tax break to any 650 to 699 foot building owner that adds a 50 foot flage pole (a/k/a spire) to their roof and you can add another 10 buildings or so to the that total!

^I guess we'll see:

Quote:
The village of eight- to 16-story condominium towers will create a new lakefront neighborhood and be built even if the city doesn't win the games, Ryan said.

Ryan said six developers already have expressed interest in paying to build the village, which the developers could then sell off after the games for use as condos, hotels and retail space.

I almost thought a certain Cincinnati bank had bought naming rights here. It's "3 First" National Plaza.

Really excited about the Valerio Dewalt Train building.

^ Have we seen anything of it yet? Did I miss it? Can't wait to see even a massing model.

EDIT: Ok, I see that Newcityskyline has it posted. Looks like it may be nice, and far better urbanistically than the SCB proposal! That giant swath of precast without windows near the bottom has me worried though.

Nice article, NCS folks - including the elevation sketch of the building and the little bio on VDT. Plus, I never knew that River North was "famed for the largest concentration of art galleries in the United States outside of Manhattan" - is that true?
