I like the design of the new temple. It will look different then all the other temples we have here in utah.
Not really sure i like how the draper one will be ALL white. Needs some color to it.

What he means is that you seem to have the glass half empty kinda view on things. Whenever anything is announced you have to bring out bad points, you can't just be happy that something is being built. By all means we need to review all aspects of a design but come on, be happy for a moment.

I can't help it, I think most modern churches are ugly. You don't want to even hear what I think about the church I attend (Saint Ambrose on the east bench). I guess I just like the historical look of older LDS Temples and Meetinghouses. My favorite LDS Meetinghouse is located in my old neighborhood (SugarHouse). The Forest Dale Ward.

Now I compare that to what they're building now and I just shake my head. Today, all the LDS Meetinghouses look the same and the LDS Temples that are going up, while definitely large in size, just don't do it for me.

Just like the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, I think it's ugly.

The boston building was sold for $ 8,100,000. I had noticed that this was listed on a commercial real estate site a few months ago, but I didn't think anything of it. Now, I have been researching, and I have found that it is in fact true. The building will be sold as an investment property. The site suggested a change in use such as to hotel or condominiums. Well, thats what they are going to be doing it sounds like. I found a bid for the demolition work on another site.

"This project is a build out in a historical 11 story building downtown Salt Lake. Work will consist of interior work only. The building will have all interior existing spaces demo’ed, and prepped for new construction. The building will receive a seismic upgrade consisting of multiple moment frames on each floor. Floors 2, 10 and 11 will be buildout with 3 units per floor of upper end condos. Floors 3-9 will consist of 6 each units. Upgrades to many of the buildings systems will take place at this time. Unit finishes will upper end finishes. PLANS DUE OUT DEC 15th."

They bid in mid January.

That'd be sweet to convert the BB into condos, more residential on Main Street! I got a bit nervous when I saw your post though, I thought they were going to demolish it...which would cause me to go postal.

I ran across this project on an architecture forum. Some guy was wanting to know a cool, hip name for the building/project. Thank you for leading me to this project.

The 567 Lofts is a modern condominium project located at 567 South 200 East in Salt Lake City's Downtown area, a block away from the new Library. The project includes 38 Units in a 6-story structure. Units range from 650 to 1,150 square feet. Designed around a urban life style, apartments feature floor to ceiling windows and a large balcony to increase the visual connection between the occupant and the city. Amenities include a fitness/recreation facility, and covered terrace with a spa. The lower level will contain retail space, which can be used as a live/ work space. The units will be finished with hard wood floors and cast-in-place concrete and stainless steel appliances. The project will bring to Salt Lake the "Urban Chic" living style, found in larger metropolitan areas such as Chicago or London.

wow viperlord your finding all kinds of projects tonight.

I was driving around downtown the over day and notice that there's a new white crane up around 200-300 east. I think it's that 6-story condo building you just posted. i was wondering what it was.

Also i love that new 12-story condo tower. What a great find. i wonder what part of downtown it will be built on?

Wow,The Boston Building going condo!!!!!!!! Where can I book a reservation? And all the projects just keep adding up. Man, Salt Lake's downtown is going to be incredible in a few more years.

I would have to agree with you Comrade on alot of the many modern church's vs. the more traditional classics. One of my favorites is the one pictured below in Brigham City.

But, I disagree with you on this new Temple in Salt Lake Valley. I think this is a very elegant and beautiful building. I think a lot of it has to do with the stone being used.

I e-mailed the architect. He says that location can't be disclosed yet because the developer has yet to close on the lot. He did say that the site is located "right in downtown".

With the exception of the spire, it looks a lot like the temple currently under construction in Rexburg, ID. Also, I beleive that the Rexburg Temple is 193' tall as well. I wonder if they were done by the same architects. Architectural Nexus designed the Rexburg Temple, does anyone know who designed the Daybreak Temple?

I hope that new condo will be built somewhere on main street. or even state street will work. State street needs more condos and housing.
