People in Calgary seem to get creamed by the C-Train with awful regularity. Been some seniors that apparently neither saw warning lights or bells, if I recall.

Its not Calgary Trail North.

Its Calgary Trail (the one heading South) in the NW quadrant of this city.

Grade crossings exist on the C-Train in many locations, with varying levels of success. My acquaintance, a C-Train driver, prefers the ones that are full-fledged locking gates (not just bells and arms) that physically prevent people from croassing the tracks while the train is approaching. Some can be found at the Kensington-Sunnyside Station in Calgary. Maybe ETS should look into this model.

He has most of his ped vs. train issues on the at grade portion in the CBD and with Stampede drunks at Earlton Park.

I went to LSL wich is right next to Ainley. The pack mentality part is certainly true. Once a bus stops on 111st people were going to cross as soon possible, red light or not.

Kids will learn or get creamed, simple as that. My father tells me about how when he went to elementary (ritchie school) they had a opperating train line right next to the school. Nobody ever got hurt.

got a letter from planning and dev about the DC1 application for the "Arlington"....

*retains W/S/E facade and then adds a 20 storey tower.

Personally i like this plan and think it is "the best" thing to do with this important historical site and yet make it viable and inject some 100 people into an area that could really use a few more.

Slow morning at work here, and I was thinking that if I could see 1 downtown building demolished, and a kick ass condo tower to replace it, it would have to be that sketchy hotel across from the Greyhound depot (the Grand I think its called). So the purpose of this post is to find out what building you would like to see gone, and what you would replace it with?

Get rid of some of the buildings on Rice Howard Way and make it into a proper predistrian-oriented street!

Yeah, it's affordable housing with higher architectural quality than a lot of higher-end residential. I wandered around the ground floor - The original concrete structure of the market building has been exposed and cleaned. It looks amazing, and would make for beautiful retail/restaurant space.
