Does anyone have the link to the concept drawing for the Condo development that is proposed for the corner of Broad and college? I thought it was on here somewhere but I can't find it. Thanks!

I can't remember if it was CCF or ReginaGuy (or someone else) that posted that picture they'd taken.

Has anyone checked out the Yahoo Local Beta? It's like Google Maps, but the satelite images for Regina are a couple years newer than Google's

It's interesting to compare Yahoo and Google to see how the city has grown in the past few years. (Especially around Wascana, since Google's images were taken before the big dig, and yahoo's images were taken after)

check it out

some new things to see on the newer satelite images
- check out the new driving course at the RCMP Training depot!

I want to give it a try!
- How much the University has grown (even though the new lab building still isnt shown)
- growth in the Southeast and Northwest areas
- Wascana Lake (new islands, reshaped islands, new Pedestrian crossing by albert street bridge, etc..)
- How much Victoria Ave. East has changed, (quite a few new buildings, widened to 6-7 lanes, new landscaping)
- another new lake in Windsor Park (very eastern edge of the city)
- New road to observation point on Wascana Hill
- Airport is finished
- Lots of new buildings on Rochdale

So I think they're installing those variable message boards down the Ring Road I was reading about in this thread. I saw a big sign on the side of the road that was entirely black, almost looked like an electronic board. The sign was off of Arcola headed towards the University down the Ring Road, close to the overpass of Assinboine and Ring Road.

They're installing them on the SIDE of the road? Who wants to take bets how long it takes a drunken motorist to take out one of those $100,000 signs?

Yeppers, just as big as one of those signs that says "Moose Jaw 64 km" or whatever. Doesn't look all that fancy, just a thin sign with an electronic board on it, and an electronic box on the back.

I noticed they put another up coming into the city from Moose Jaw, also on the side of the highway. I thought these were going to overhang the highway, but I guess not.

There's another one heading north on the ring road, just after the Victoria Ave overpass. I thought these were going to overhang the highway too... wouldn't that be easier to see?

On the news they had some new concepts for Wascana Lake, such as a promenade near Broad St.

Didn't say any more other than that.

being the engineering geek i am, I started drawing up a fantasy future plan for wascana lake a while ago, I think i still have the drawings around somewhere

I really wish they would build some kind of circulation pump / filtration system on Wascana lake. It would be a little costly, but the pump would only need to run from june to august, and there are powerful enough solar pumps out there. It would really help clean the water in the stagnent summer months

I know, the lower pond alone has about 3.3 million cubic metres of water (or about 3.5 billion litres), and it would be a lot to pump and clean, but even a small amount would help

Just saw CTV news at noon, and they talked about the new plans for Wascana lake, they also mentioned that a new building will be breaking ground next year at the university.. some sort of research centre. I missed the name of it though, does anyone have details?

I assume it will be the Technology Innovation Centre. Maybe the new provincial lab will have started by then, hah.

Nevermind, the new building that they were speaking about was the Lab, except they changed the name.

It is not called, Saskatchewan Disease Control Laboratory.

Nothing too groundbreaking. Construction will begin in early 2007, end date will be 2008.

what was wrong with the way the building looked before? It wasn't the most amazing piece of architecture in Regina, but there was nothing wrong with it.
