Why no names? Back in the day every local paper would have an “In Provincial Court” column where this kind of thing would have been named and shamed.

The car brand was prominently shamed. Isn't that enough for you?

Money talks, or in this case it silences.

BC Parkway Improvements.

Biked last night between Nelson and Royal Oak. The construction has started on separating bike path from pedestrian path. Project by Translink below - going all the way to Buller apparently.

My first thought was FFS! It's already laid out with separate bike and pedestrian paths - it's just that pedestrians chose to walk on the bike path and instead of doing anything about it, TransLink just decided to mark it as a MUP instead.

I will admit the intersection improvements and 'improved lighting' will be good and I really hope that's where most of the money is being spent.

The BC Parkway is overdue for some upgrades, nice to see them happening.

Saw that on the weekend, I was biking it with a friend telling them about it, and we saw they're starting from the Metrotown end working forward. Will be interesting to see what the detailed intersection redesigns look like.

The current (or former) separate bike and pedestrian paths aren't continuous, and for most of this area it's just the MUP. Having a fully separate bike path is definitely needed during peak times, and the space is there sitting barren under the Skytrain.

It is frustrating that improvements at Imperial are left out of this though, that intersection needs a complete redesign as the designated MUP is just a thin sidewalk for that half block.

It would be nice if they could prevent the tree roots from buckling the asphalt...

Given how they have fenced of large areas under the SkyTrain guideway I think that there will be a large redesign likely with two completely paved paths (one for cyclists and one for pedestrian's). Probably coupled with landscaping changes.

I lived near Rumble and Gilley in the 90s and used to ride this stretch all the time (before they posted MUP signs). Since those days the only changes / upgrades along here have been: right around Royal Oak Station (when they did work on the station), coloured lights on the concrete Skytrain columns, and crossing lights at Nelson.

I hope so. Those latest 'upgrade the line' surveys suggested all sorts of activities a lot more than bike and walking paths.
