The casting yard can be used for segmented bridge girders like was used on the Port Mann.

I have a feeling that the Cons will just go ahead with this project. They have said that they want a high-capacity crossing with the lowest costs. From my experience, canceling whatever is on the table will only result in more cost increases. Plus, they want the entire drama of the Massey tunnel to stay on the shoulders of the BC Liberals and the NDP.

If we all just put our heads together and got along instead of needing to make this replacement for a crumbling piece of outdated infrastructure a project a politicians grand opus, then we would have colonized the solar system by now.

Blah blah blah poly means many and ticks are blood sucking parasites. That's politics.

I agree. While I wish they had stuck to the original bridge plan mainly because of all the other improvements that were part of the plan (better Steveston interchange which would have been superior to what we just got, better HOV and improvements along the whole 99 corridor especially in South Surrey, proper connection to Delta, etc.) it is what it is and a new tunnel is better than nothing and another 10 years.

So if the Conservatives do get in, I certainly hope they just keep this going and focus on other things we need infrastructure wise.

I have no doubt some changes will need to happen because the very reason they are going back for procurement is because the original proposal basically couldn't be physically constructed. Going out to RFP again for that portion doesn't change the laws of physics nor engineering capabilities. But let's not pivot back to a bridge that would probably need another environmental assessment and a bunch of delayed BS.
