I was also trying to discern exactly when. I think it's later in April because:

- the state of the snowpack. There were places I know were annoyingly still snow-affected quite late in April, but they are clear in this imagery.

- a previously vacant storefront that I know was used as a federal election campaign HQ looks like it was still in heavy use; election day was the 25th?

- the river is high, but I don't think any paths are flooded, so it's before peak water.

I was hoping for fall imagery this time, to see some river features that pop during low water.

I suspect the imagery was taken over several days, but mid-late April seems about right. A couple observations:

- Tunney’s Pasture parking is empty = weekend/holiday
- Costco at Blair has an empty parking lot = they typically are closed Easter Sunday, so April 20th
- Costco in Nepean has a full parking lot, so…different imaging date?
- the far east side of Jacques Cartier park is full of snow, though I do see several places with umbrellas and patio furniture set up, so the weather was getting warmer.

The Saturday of the Easter weekend was beautiful IIRC.

Given the huge time gap between 1928 and 1958 in the air photos collection, I wonder why a known collection of 1930 thru 1945 photos are not included? https://gsg.uottawa.ca/geo/airphotos/

The resolution on one of those 1930s-vintage sets (A6352, I think) is amazing.

Like... you can see the streetcars and their tracks on Bank and Elgin. You can easily make out paths in the woods and brambles on the margins of built-up areas. The frickin' transmission lines across the river are clearly visible. You can make out shadows of individual pedestrians.

This might also be the place to re-up this resource, which often provides useful geographical cross-references.

I won't have time to play around with them for a while, but a smart computer person could generate an interface using the GIS data that forms part of that entire collection.

Open Ottawa has added a dataset of polling locations for the upcoming municipal election:

https://open.ottawa.ca/datasets/c43b18eb...lore?location=45.304105%2C-75.774820%2C1

Boy, I wish the city elections office would at least attempt to find "Special Advance" polling locations that are located at or very near LRT and BRT stations. The closest is the one at City Hall. Why not get space in Billings Bridge or St. Laurent malls?

We wouldn't want non drivers to vote, now would we.

No?

Special Advance voting is advance voting run by the "central" elections office, and anyone in any ward can vote at those locations. Similar in function to the "vote at the returning office" in federal and provincial elections.

The regular Advance voting locations are in-ward only, similar to advance polls in federal and provincial elections.

Ah. I was thrown by the word polling. To me that means gathering information on which way people are leaning.
