I'm back to asking why the park isn't open yet. It's all finished, no work is occurring, but the park is closed.

Is this another example of the extreme overbearing nature of the NCC blocking access to the park because they're afraid of crowds gathering to watch the fireworks?

I was there yesterday, there are some unfinished pavers and that broken glass ceiling. They seem to be in no rush to get it finished.

Thats one of a kind of a project. Amazing addition to the area. Hopefully they will revamp the missing link as far as the parliament.

Anybody know when the site will open? Its been like 3 months now complete and sitting. I noticed a 2nd set of fencing in front of the glass railings. Design issue? Broken piece of custom glass?

Nobody knows. Last time I asked workers on site in June, they said it was ready to open in a few days.
It's been a ghost town since then.

I guess I have been out of the loop about this, but finally got to see this project today. Wow! I love the two reflection towers. It reminds me a bit of 'The Bean' in Chicago, while being totally different. It has major photo-op possibilities. The reflections this afternoon were wonderful which will change depending on the angle. I can't wait until it opens to the public so I can see this from various vantage points. Potentially better than Kiweki Point in my opinion.

On the other hand, the new LGBT monument was a bit of a disappointment mainly because it was adjacent to a very ugly surface parking lot. Get rid of the parking lot!

The other aspect of my walk to see the various new monuments in the area, was how few pedestrians (and tourists) were getting to see all of this.

One of the best vantage points to view this building is from the new Confluence Park in Hull. There's a bench in the middle of the park that has a perfect view especially in the golden hours.

Yes, it does. However, while Gehry's buildings have a fluid and organic quality about them, they are rarely truly contextual and meant to stand out from their surroundings. What's cool about this building is how it blends into the landscape appropriately.

It should look around the same height as Place de Ville C.

I wish the original heights had been preserved. Though the taller Relevé Tower is decently higher than Moon, it's not tall enough to be visible from that angle. The extra 4 floors could have made a difference.

It is going to be about 100 feet (50%) taller than Constitution Square (blue glass tower just behind PDVC) and directly in line with it. That should get it to about the height of the top of the crane or maybe a little bit taller. 40 would have been nice...

Actually, thought I would do the math (or ask ChatGPT to do it )

To compare how tall the towers appear, use their angular size, which for these distances is approximately proportional to:

Tower C
frac{112}{774}=0.14470
Tower R
frac{116}{973}=0.11922

So Tower C has the larger apparent size.

The percentage difference relative to Tower R is:

21.4%

Sadly, PDVC will continue to dominate from this angle

Maybe that's a good thing because Renaissance will have a lot of pre-cast on the north side. And honestly, PdV C is a very nice example of the International style.
