Diversions galore as thunderstorms effect YYZ.

* AC 77W from LHR
* Qatar A350-1000 (!!) from DOH
* AC 7M8 from PDL
* AC 77W from CDG
* AC 333 from VCE (another *A 330)
* WS 7M8 from YYC
* China Eastern 77W from PVG
* Transat 321LR from DUB
* BA 781 from LHR

Things look to have calmed down so that's likely it.

Cancellation count is up to 11 but 6 of them aren’t even to YTO. There might be more cancellations as several YYZ departures have multi-hour delays. In addition to S4’s pax counting at YOW, looks like AC 817 from VCE cleared here as it’s leaving off gate 17 unlike the other diversions that stayed on remote stands.

Another interesting thing today was PD 277 to YEG ground loaded as it left from gate 21A. First time I’ve ever seen that gate designation, so like 29 & 30 it must’ve gotten an additional lead-in line.

21A is visible on Google Maps satellite - it's between the lines for gates 19 and 21. Although the Flightradar24 playback shows it left from gate 15.

I checked Sunwing and didn't see any additional flights loaded in place of LIR on Sunday. Maybe another CUN will take it's place?

I read online that the Azores Airline passengers (from S4 331) were told to go find accommodations (at their own expense) and when they all returned in the morning there was no staff to be found and no clear flight plan. At least someone took a cool photo....

Looks everything ended up making it's way back to YYZ last night after all. AC888 got cancelled though as did AC889. Tonight's AC888 will use the frame that operated AC889 yesterday.

AC announced a handful of new routes for next summer, but nothing for YOW. They appear to have taken back a leased LHR slot but have just increased YYZ by 7x weekly - YOW still remains at 4x weekly on the 330 for next summer.

The daytripper slot that YOW/YHZ-LHR are using this winter will go back to YYZ next summer (on the XLR) and YHZ will return to a red-eye.

It does not surprise me that AC has anything new for YOW. They have been quite clear about their Hub Strategy as for Transatlantic service.

Any new YOW transatlantic flights, I looking for European carrier or TS to provide direct service.

And the thing with YOW and the XLR, if AC does in fact have plans to bring back YOW-FRA using the XLR, it won't be until there's at least 20 XLRs on property as they'd obviously prioritize building out additional YYZ & YUL connections.

I was a bit surprised to see AC announce SNN on mainline instead of a Rouge MAX.

Will also be interesting to see whether the daytripper moving back to YYZ is permanent, year-round. The YOW-LHR daytripper could be a one-off this winter.

Yes & Not surprisingly the new international routes for 2027 announced are from Vancouver YVR, Toronto YYZ & Montreal YUL AC’s Main Hubs in Canada✅!

With more new fleet of AC Boeing 787-10 coming online in the coming months- YYZ, YUL & YVR will see more new international destination announcements eventually.

While Calgary YYC is likely to see (some) AC 787-10 action once they get enough deliveries - to either London LHR or Frankfurt FRA + Domestic YYZ / YUL.

That is indeed my photo! Parked next to it after my flight so I couldn’t resist to head onto the apron to take a photo of it. Shame what the pax experienced!

Daytrippers usually come at a premium compared to redeyes (timings are more favorable for the O&D crowd, and it helps with jet lag), so don't know why AC isn't utilizing this daytripper flight from YYZ, where it belongs, but that's another debate entirely.

On another note, seems YOW is already making good use of it's SA CAT II approach. (For suitably equipped aircraft/airlines, of course....)
