From the rumor, #2 is already ruled out.
It is!

2027 total is now 96,309 vs 95,327 before, so you've added 1,000 seats per week with your corrections!

That puts us at 0.7% over the summer 2019 numbers so finally rebuilt post covid.

Next milestone is to beat the 2018 numbers, which were the highest my charts ever calculated at 97,928. If AC ever announces their expansion plans they were hinting at that could do it.

If Emirates announces anything we may be able to top 100k!

AC to announce new destination on Sept 3.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV8QRKmv8xs

Saw this clue on reddit

The AC77 is definitely from YVR, since the flight number suggests Pacific route that lands right in the midnight departure bank here. YYZ/YUL do not have AC departure past midnight.

Where would that be...? CAN?

The other 4 points to secondary Europe cities from YYZ/YUL based on the flight number and departure time.

I guess there would still possible to add more routes/frequency to existing destination, or seasonal extension on top of the 5 listed.

Very strong possibility its YVR-CAN.
Also YVR-CDG/BCN maybe both or one.

This statement would seem valid, except we already have AF to CDG. If this applies only to Air Canada, then, yes, a new route to BCN would be great, (and maybe just maybe FCO to boot)

This does apply to AC, that's why I mentioned it.

There's no leak from the employee, the website, or the destination airport this time?

With the amount of XLR and 78X getting from now until next summer (8-12 in total?), there got to be more for YVR, right? I would expect AC to put at least 3 planes capable for long-haul flight next summer at YVR (just 1 more than peak winter), or maybe 4...

AC77 will likely take up an entire plane

Then the possible CDG and BCN would take 0.5 each

The other 4 destinations they are hinted (from YYZ/YUL) would also account for 0.5 each unless they are flying from both bases.

So there should be more? Or they all go toward improving existing route? Or AC going to put 80-85% of the resource to YYZ and YUL...

CAN is a weird one. Given that AC doesn't even use all their PEK slots it seems unlikely, but that instagram hint video is pretty clear.

Was really hoping the dragon would mean Saigon.

Knowing AC, this would probably be the most likely outcome lol.

In all seriousness, I was hoping to see SGN as a new destination out of YVR instead of CAN, heck even some more secondary cities in Japan would have been fine such as Okinawa or Fukuoka. I guess AC sees more potential in CAN than other markets in Asia for the time being.

Also I am hoping for some decent expansion into existing markets out of YVR with the likes of BCN, FCO, CDG, etc. Heck even BOG would be a nice addition as AC has recently got a new partnership with the ABRA group.

Anyone know if NavCanada recently switched over to the new arrival flight paths for YVR? It seems like there's a lot more planes doing the route just skirting Burrard Inlet /North Burnaby.

https://www.navcanada.ca/en/air-traffic/airspace-reviews/vancouver-airspace-modernization.aspx

EDIT: Reddit says it changed 9 months or so ago but never noticed planes doing these flight paths recently.

I think it’s been posted before, but does anyone know the number of aircraft Air Canada bases in Vancouver by season? Are there more widebody aircraft in the winter or summer?

Confirmed YVR-CAN year-round 3x weekly on a 787. Interesting to have the departure time at exactly the same time as CZ.

I wonder, freed up by allocating 787-10 to Singapore? Both being cargo plays (and SIN has been much harder to book than BKK, so can absorb the passenger capacity too)

Not sure if the 787-10 has the legs to do Singapore, especially in the winter. Flight times can exceed 15 hours, and the current longest flight on that type is blocked for 13.5 hours. Even if they could do it, they wouldn’t be hauling a lot of cargo.

Also as part of the announcement of incoming 787-10s is that Vancouver-Brisbane frequency is going daily.

YVR-BNE had always been daily, or at least 6x weekly, year-round.

Not based aircraft, but the number of widebodies needed to operate the Vancouver international (long hual) schedule:

S24: 13
W24: 16
S25: 14
W25: 17
S26: 16
W26: 18 (likely)
S27: 17 (for now)

Comparison to pre-covid:
S19: 18.5 (DUB is shared with YUL)
W19: 15

The IGW 787-10 has the legs for it. How much it would improve the operating economics over current would come down to premium cabinet demand. This summer premium economy and J seats to SIN were going for double J seats to HKG and BKK with alliance on connections to SIN.

Got it thanks. Hard to track the seasonal frequency adjustments now that the schedule PDFs are gone…

Another random one, but does anyone have insight into how the SE Asia routes are performing? At least on the surface appears they are performing well enough…

A bit disappointed to see no additional Euro announcement from
AC, I guess maybe still to come in the next few weeks. Would be nice to trend back towards the pre covid network (double daily LHR, CDG, ZRH, FRA, DUB), with the addition of maybe a FCO or something.

As an aside, the Rouging of the MAX fleet is an unfortunate development, given the seat pitch appears distinctly worse than the mainline MAX. Tough enough to Edmonton let alone Hawaii/Mexico…hopefully we see more 220’s!

No it doesn't.

787-10 IGW range will be ~6,730nm.

YVR-SIN is at least 6,923nm, GC route, still air.

Don't believe the range listed on Boeing's website in the specs section. Don't know where they got up to 7,500nm from, but that's not accurate, or it's with very little payload. Last year, the range listed for the 787-10 was 6,330nm. the IGW gives an extra 400nm range. So ~6,730nm.

7,500nm on the 787-10 is pure lunacy. Maybe in a BBJ config.

Brutal.

3x PW to a destination already served and one PW frequency update to BNE.

What an absolute waste of time. AC continues to disappoint.
