I am thinking a microburst similar to the one that destroyed that house under construction in south Austin.

Last year glass fell from ATX (6XG) Tower.

And not too many years ago, didn't the W Hotel or nearby have balcony glass bust due to heat?

I don't recall 6XG having glass fall. And I can't find a story on it. But it would not surprise me. W hotel, Austonian, the PNC tower and now the Modern. I have found cases in many cities of this happening. Not sure if any city has this problem on this scale. I remember going after a poster that said this was a city council problem. At the time I thought this was pretty isolated. But now I am not so sure. Unless there is a natural disaster like the tornado that hit downtown Fort Worth or a Hurricane in Houston. This should not be this big of an issue. Remember the story of the guy that invented the windows for skyscrapers saying they are unbreakable. Then he tried to jump through the window and fell to his death. Maybe we should make the developers test their work out the same way and see if the quality improves.
