It may end up boring when there's too much of it over a same area, but it doesn't seem the case over there.
It makes up for older buildings nearby.

That's a good point. Even a lot of the newer glass buildings in the Detroit area tend to have prominent mullions or some sort of spandrel color offset so the sleek look is actually kind of rare.
