“Almost half of British Columbians (47 per cent) believe the province needs a centre-right party to serve as an alternative to the B.C. NDP and the B.C. Conservatives,” wrote pollster Mario Canseco.
“Just over two in five (41 per cent) believe it is time to bring back the B.C. Liberals.”
The sentiment was especially strong among those who voted Liberal in last year’s federal election, said Canseco.
The plan to revive the Liberals at the provincial level borrows from the Mark Carney model.
“Federally, a Liberal government under Mark Carney won back voters from across the spectrum by leading with competence and a plan to build — not by picking an ideological side,” say the organizers. “People who had drifted away came home to a brand that delivers. We can do the same in B.C.”
