The project site shows what Toronto developers call "soft lofts", which feature bare concrete ceilings and dividing walls, with exposed HVAC ducts. That is a new-construction takeoff on what actual loft conversions of old commercial space might have had. I don't find the design attractive, and in To. the units are often postage-stamp sized.

Just convince them that it’s trendy, in-style. It works every time, and is recyclable. After a while, you just convince them that it’s “dated”, but that this new thing is what all the ‘cool people’ want now. Then more money is made.

The loft look is often nice with high ceilings. You still get finishes like bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, etc.

I have to wonder if all the exposed stuff tends to collect dust that needs extra cleaning (note: dusting is not my favourite activity). Beyond that I look at it along the same lines as 'faux heritage'. Some like it, but not for everyone.
