If the demolition was approved by council, they should get those buildings down as soon as possible, before anyone changes their mind. Go into city hall Friday at 3 when the junior staff is working, wave around the council order and get that demo permit filed before they know what happened and roll the machines overnight Friday. Talk to that dude in Byron if they need to know how knock something down in darkness lol.

York has got construction fencing up around the 2 one floor houses on the corner. Looks like the utilities have been disconnected so could see them demolished soon.

Stripping the bricks off the 2 story and packing them on pallets. The 2 one story houses on Ann are gone. The one story on St George is still there and appears to still have tenants. The old auto repair shop/former brewery is also untouched.

The 2s brick house is now gone as is the 2nd one story house on St George. Still one of the 1s houses left standing. Appears to maybe having a tenant left. They have started removing window frames from the old car repair/brewery buildings. Guessing they will strip it of heritage elements before bringing it down.

Will York get a detailed site plan application approved and building permit in 2026?

The Ann Street building that was in process of being demolished and already opened up with most of the windows removed catches fire.

The remaining 1s house on Ann street has also been knocked down now. Still have to clear it and dig out the basement foundation.

This is listed as 84 St George St on city permit website. The site has been cleared since last winter. Site plan application process has been going back and forth between York and the City as seen by the timeline below.

This is one project in the city that I do not care if it never gets built. I guess that added population is always good, but the design is so ugly that I think it has a negative impact on the skyline.

Looks like York agrees based on their Minor Variance application that they recently submitted for this development.

Maybe that's the way to get closer to original heights, is talk them down a bit to get the overall project approved and then see how much of that concession you can get back after the fact by calling it a minor variance.
