Uh geez. When will Westbank realize that hotel-sized appliances, sinks, etc., in multi-million dollar apartments just doesn't cut it?

Several years ago I lived in a new Westbank project. We immediately ripped out the micro-fridge ("so Euro!", the salesperson excitedly said) and put in a full-sized, N.A.-width version. The oven was so small you could not fit a roaster in it.

It's a small 525sq ft one bedroom - could be 24"

The cooktop looks small compared to what I had in my Westbank unit. However, my unit was +/- 1,640 sf.

I'd also add that the stock fridge in my unit was only 24" wide (that we ripped out and sold for scrap), same for the oven. I'd say it was comical, but what agents have told me when both buying and renting was "nobody cooks anymore, you either go out for meals or order in". Yeah, right.

One can only assume Westbank didn’t design the units for people who wanted a home vs a hotel-style crash pad when they were in town.

But let's not forget that Westbank was the City's, or at least Gregor's, favoured developer, getting unique concessions and approvals far quicker than any other developer. If the concept of court composers were a thing today, then Westbank would have been Gregor's court developer.

And then the Fed Libs bring Gregor on to fix the housing market. Nothing to see here.

And the people working at the investment firm don't care about "context" or "logic", the market went up X percentage a year, the units are from a known builder, the number (in that moment) makes sense, that's it, they just buy them and think they will sell them after X years for a profit.

There's no logic anywhere in all of this, it's just an automatic process that was used for years with no problem and like in any industry when something make money no one says a word.

Bingo. That's the unfortunate part of Vancouver real estate, and Vancouver being a host spot for global investors. I bet half of the owners have never seen the building n person.

The 24" Miele gas cooktops don't have that much space on either side and also doesn't have a double ring burner. I had a 24" Miele myself. It's really not a good product and meant for developers to market their projects with Miele.

There's no auto reignition and it doesn't have enough BTU. The higher end Miele gas cooktops are night and day compared to their basic lineup and the 24" gas cooktop from Wolf is much better and is more practical as there's more space to work with.

I has a great design, not massaged by City Policies on shadowing or view cones or with a different looking facade on each side.
