Beautiful day. Went for a paddle on Pigeon Lake. Of note, the mythic town of Bobcaygeon lies on the shores of Pigeon Lake, though not photographed here.

19C and partly cloudy in Moncton at 8 pm.

It got up to 24C this afternoon (humidex 28) and was calm and sunny. It was the perfect day to have the family over for a pool party. So far retirement is great! Lots of time to do stuff like this.

Another nice day tomorrow, but a monsoon arrives on Sunday (about 50-80 mm of rain expected). Too bad. They are holding the first annual renaissance fair in Shediac this weekend. Completely sold out (6,000 tickets). This is a genius idea. There is no other renaissance fair in the region, and it is the sort of event that people will travel thousands of km to attend. At least the weather Saturday will be good,

They had a medieval festival just east of Winnipeg recently. I myself didn't attend but from what I've heard, it was great fun, especially for the kids.

25C and sunny. Barely made it to our average high. Not that today was a bad day but where are our heat waves??? The whole World is having them except our region.

Low of 13C this morning. Cooler because of the dryness.

Hotspot yesterday was Warfield (Trail) BC, with another toasty 38.5.

A cold front of mixed conditions is pushing through BC this evening, so the hot spot might shift to Alberta tomorrow.

A nice weekend ahead for southern Manitoba, with sunny skies and seasonal highs of 25°C

August temps so far have been slightly below normal after a warmer than normal July. The long weekend was very warm, but since then I have barely used the a/c. Starting to really notice the shorter days now as it's lights on before 9, compared with closer to 10 a month or so ago. The balance of the month is expected to be near seasonal, and above average for the first half of Sept. Fingers crossed.

I haven’t been on the forum as much lately, so sorry I missed it… but HAPPY RETIREMENT!!!

They are predicting as much as 100mm of rain for NS over the next couple of days. I only hope that it doesn’t exceed their predictions and lead to another extreme flooding situation like we had a few years ago.

Still happy to see some significant rainfall short of flooding risks, though. The tinder-dry fire risk drought conditions we’ve had in recent years is never good.

Had a few beers in Bannerman Park with friends and noticed something. The percentage of hot people is higher, but more importantly, the comfort level of the rest of us is higher too. So many average people almost naked. It was beautiful!

We had about 40 mm of rain yesterday and overnight with more on the way today. Lots of thunder and lightning also.

Currently there is a marine warning for water spouts.

It was very unusual. In Vancouver you might get one small thunderstorm once a year or so. There was another one a few weeks ago that was unusually large and this one lasted a lot longer with occasional downpours.
