Defined by its towering twin smokestack structures, the complex; opened in 1916, provided heating to over 300 buildings in downtown Spokane for 70 years of continuous use before shutting down in 1986.
In 1999, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was transformed into "Steam Plant Square" for office and commercial uses.
