At the Costco they are adding the diagonal tension rods along the ceiling. Nice shadow free lighting conditions. When I passed by there on the way home they were working on the building again.
I was taking some photos at the Queen City Distillery this morning while the exhibition was closed. Just before leaving I thought I should take a panorama.
At the demolition project they made a hole in the south side first floor big enough to get the mini excavator into the basement. They might do something similar on the north side breaking a hole in the second story wall to lift the mini up there.
Approaching the Costco I could see they did something on the north end of the building but couldn't tell what is was from the ground, but thought it might have been roof insulation. I couldn't make it out on the controller screen either. Looking at the photos it appears to be roof gutters and they may have stuck insulation under it because it might not be possible to do insulation after its installed. Putting some cross braces between some roof joists. This evening I flipped back and forth between yesterday and today's overhead and noticed they put up the rest of the 4th and 5th rows of steel in the lower left. Haze made for some nice sun beams around sunrise.
Still doing a lot of concrete block work at the fire station. I hadn't been to the Neville Drive 6 storey in a while, the long crane they had on site for much of the construction is gone. I managed to get most of the drone stuff finished before the wind picked up.
At the data centre they are preassembling roof sections for the first building. They've been hauling dirt to the SE corner of the site for a week or so. Either filling in an area they robbed dirt from or making a stockpile. Empty trucks have also been coming in to haul out top soil from the massive pile just east of the site.
Putting up netting over the rest of the finished sections of the Costco. Maybe they'll start the roof this week. After flipping between today and yesterday's overhead shot I noticed they started digging out dirt from a gap in the front footer. They had the piles buried so they could drive in and out. Now they are pulling the dirt back so they can finish the front foundation wall.
Certainly in no hurry to finish the Grand Coulee truckstop, just slowly moving along.

The demolition project has me pondering re-buying a DJI Neo 1, the first drone I had. Safer to fly in tight spaces because the propeller guards allow it to bump into stuff without crashing, and usually survives crashes without damage. The Neo 1 is more abuse tolerant than the Neo 2. Though the low light performance is not great so there might not be much benefit being able to fly inside.

Neo 1 would be a good cheap back-up. I'll bet you could get a used one for very little $. I have one and like it, but I only use it a few time per year. I am thinking of attaching foam pontoons so I can use it over water more confidently.

All the used ones I saw on Marketplace were bundles. I made an offer on a controllerless 3 battery one that's been up for 2 months, but no dice. I went with plan A getting an Amazon warehouse deal on a used drone only single battery return.
I noticed they installed door frames at the Costco, but they were there in yesteday's photo as well. Expanding the parking lot area they are working on. Yesterday they started working on parking lot row end medians in the SW corner.
Knocked down some walls at the Agribition building. Digging deeper at the aquatic centre. Looks like they are building a wood wall / sturdy fence along 10th Ave at the aquatic site, holes drilled in the asphalt and panels going up. Starting to do basement columns at the Douglas Park Project. Still gutting the CBS building, didn't see much difference on the outside other than putting metal in dumpsters. Looking at the photos I see some second floor windows in the back broken out that weren't broken yesterday.
When I was at Kinsmen Park South (which has reopened) I saw a C17 cargo plane landing. So I rode over to the airport to take a look. A bunch of cars started showing with people also wanting to take a look.

I figured the vertical part of the Agribition building modifications would be clad steel framing, but they are putting up pre-cast concrete panels. Some precast stairs on the trailer too. Seem to have their engineering shit together for the work they have planned. Construction projects in Regina rarely seem to employ modern techniques. With the right engineering firm there is probably a world of predesigned options you can license instead of reinventing the wheel with each project.
Good timing arriving at the CBS demo today. I was about to leave after a few photos when I heard some booming and they were knocking at panel out of the back of the building which I got a video of. I was wondering how they were going to get the mini excavator to the second floor, and it turns out it just drove up a pile of rubble. Antenna that was on the roof last time I was there was gone. The college / broad building has some stone work at the entrance that I only noticed while editing the photo otherwise I would have got a closer look.
Putting up more steel at the Costco today, I didn't bother stopping since I'll head out there this evening along with heading up to the bypass bridge.

I always end up taking a bunch of photos when I'm out there. Mostly at 2x zoom, some at one, often a straight on and diagonal of each pad incase lighting is better one way. A lot of steel being delivered to the west side of the site. Pile drillers are active again after being parked a few weeks. It looks like the dirt hauling is being used to fill in a hole in the SE corner of the site. Still assembling roof sections for the first building, one day I'll go back and that building will suddenly be up.
Putting wood on top of the scaffolding at the bypass bridge. Most of the 6th row of steel up at the Costco. Rolling in a road in the Westerra expansion this evening, must be paving it soon. A bunch of steel piled in front of the Agribition building since this morning, might start assembling that tomorrow. Precast panel box might be a stairwell / elevator shaft to a balcony.
Wall sheeting going up at the Costco. They were just starting to install steel at the Agribition building so I'll get some photos this evening. The mini excavator was working on the second floor of the demolition project so maybe they'll have it cleaned up enough to knock down next week. 4 portables installed at the second Harbour Landing school, but none stacked. The inside of the building looks wide open not even interior wall framing yet and exterior doors / windows still to be installed.
Rode the path they added along Hillsdale from Wascana Park to 23rd Ave a few years ago. The city also planted a bunch of trees west of the path. Today I noticed a some of them are dwarf apple trees with a lot of apples on them. They look almost ripe. Some Coopertown and Rosewood photos. Lighting was brutal when I stopped by the Queen City Distillery site, but managed some decent photos after brighting the shaded areas. They will probably do more work tomorrow. The dynamic range of the Mini 5 Pro camera is quite impressive, you can pull a lot of detail out of dark areas of the image. The range is even wider if you save in raw format, but those files are 3-5x the size of jpgs and a bit of a pain to edit and no noise filtering so you have to manually do that as well.
The lighting was less of a problem at the Costco site. More of the front steel went up. They have fabric and road base right up to the south side of the building. Looking at what they have bulldozed to the east, they can build 1/3 or more of the parking lot. The road in Westerra that was being rolled yesterday was oiled today, so its ready to pave.
I'm always forgetting about photos I take on my phone. Of the two tent buildings near the hospital at REAL, the east one (two in line actually) has been removed. Maybe the new big tent will occupy that spot and eat up most of the rear parking lot at the Cooperators Centre. I'll get an overhead shot tomorrow, should have taken one tonight.
This morning I noticed that two of the big signs that went over top of the roadway by the north Albert bridge were replaced with cantilevered signs. One on the north bound side of Albert just before the bridge and another on the westbound Ring Road exit ramp. Looking at the streetview images, the one on the exit ramp was removed last year.
The sign support was there when I took this last week.
Finished the 6th row of steel at the Costco and are spreading the last of the netting over front side of the building. Rolling in the road base against the south side of the building, so they'll probably pave that first to make it easier to put the sheet metal up on that side. Paved around the new retail building on Pinkie.
From the REAL overhead I'm wondering if they'll remove the other soft top building for the new one or reuse part of its west outer wall. A channel has been cut into the pavement south of it butting up against the building in that direction. Doing some measuring the combined footprint is about 434x254 feet making for 110,000 square feet which is pretty close to what was mentioned in an article a while back. I guess there's no reason it has to be a single building. The two could be connected along their shared side via numerous doors. They might extend the one still standing further south and build a second large one. Should happen fast to have it done ahead of Agribition.

An excavator and grader at the new dealership location but they hadn't broken ground yet. Sasktenders finally replaced their ancient Microsoft ASP website with something modern that loads instantly. I noticed the SW Sewage Trunk project hadn't started yet, so went to check on the tender. The tender closed at the end of April but wasn't awarded until July 20th, I think last year's work started fairly late in the summer as well.

While at JD Industrial today, I overhead that Hipperson Construction is awaiting permits to stand up steel at the data centre. So that is why it seems like not much is going on with steel on the first building.
