Purdys is scheduled for a September opening, the space is pretty small so once work begins it should be pretty quick.

The Rona store on Mapleton Road is now under corporate ownership. The previous owners (Terrain Capital) have backed away from their involvement with five Atlantic Canadian Rona stores.

Urban Barn is now confirmed for the Mapleton Centre. There is a job advert on line.

The opening is apparently scheduled for October of this year. Renovations to the old Ashley Home Store must be imminent.

A slight revision to the above post.

Urban Barn is actually moving into the former Sounds Fantastic space next to Lindt. There is signage posted in the windows. Construction is already underway. An October opening date is highly probable.

also. Ocean Trail Source for Adventure is now gone. This was a subsidiary of Cleve's and the two stores are internally connected. As predicted, Cleve's has moved into this space, and has relocated their hockey equipment section here. It has increased the physical size of this department quite substantially. I was talking to a clerk in there and, there is the possibility they may actually rebrand this space as a dedicated "hockey shop", perhaps with distinct external signage.

MEC opening probably did that store in honestly, personally I'd go to MEC and completely forget about OTSA.

Mind Games opening at Champlain Place must be imminent. There is still no store signage, but peering through the curtains, the store appears fully stocked, and they have started work on the window displays. I would guess it must be opening in the next 7-10 days at most.

Spirt Halloween is now open at Champlain Place. I don’t know if this was previously mentioned so I really don’t know when it opened. There’s a rumour that this could become a Spirt Christmas in November & December so this could be a longer term pop up store.

Halifax ReTales is reporting that a $200M Amazon fulfillment centre is to be built in The Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth. I don't know his source, but, if true, this would likely be the same centre rumoured for Dieppe a couple of years ago,

If Amazon has chosen Halifax, at least Walmart has chosen Moncton. The current distribution centre in the Caledonia Industrial Park is currently expanding and doubling in size. There is also a rumour that a separate dry goods distribution centre for the Caledonia Industrial Park is on the way. Currently non grocery related Walmart goods are sourced out of Cornwall, Ontario.

Empyrean Bar & Grill in the Petitcodiac Plaza on Champlain Street has closed. Signage in the window indicates they hope to reopen elsewhere in the metro area in the near future.

Just some retail news. The parent company of Spencer's and Spirit Halloween is acquiring Hot Topic Inc., (which also includes BoxLunch and Her Universe).

Nothing worth reporting at present.

Amazon potentially needs to be near a port for all of the off-Shore stock? Maybe with the aggressive port expansion in Saint John, we will see Halifax and Saint John?

I was lowkey hoping we'd score that Amazon fulfillment centre but as MonctonRad said, at least we get Walmart for Moncton.

Structube is apparently going to relocate to the former Ashley Home Store location at the Mapleton Centre.

The Emmerson park development on construct connect has a start date for August 17. I wonder if we will see any activity this week.
