I’d be shocked if the Fundy Harbour Group finish their 4th and 5th building by the time Lafford had their 3 towers fully furnished and fully occupied
Keep in mind the Fundy Harbour Group has already relied upon government financing to build a single 6 storey apartment building on one of the most valuable parcels of oceanfront real estate in Saint John… and of course it went to a developer from Rothesay who not only benefited from millions pumped into the surrounding seawall by the government, but also received generous government financing to, again, put up a single 6 storey apartment building over two+ years, before a single person moves in.
I hope Lafford applies for government financing to put up a 30+ storey tower on hospital hill, and/or buys the entirety of Brunswick Square to redevelop as something positive for New Brunswick’s oldest city.
Imagine what Lafford could build and redevelop if they were given the opportunity to build Brunswick Square up to the 30+ storey potential it was designed for, along with redeveloping a large portion of the existing office space.
It will be exciting to see the renderings for their proposal. While some have speculated Lafford will simply modify their designs for the 3 Sisters and build a slightly taller, seaside version in Saint-John, I hope they go for something a little different… perhaps three Neo Art Deco Towers.
