I hope one day 1 New York Plaza and 55 Water Street both get reskinned/remodeled.

55 Water St. is my least favorite building out of all tall buildings in that city, and perhaps anywhere. Those buildings along Water St. is a wall of ugliness for the most part, IMO.

Yes! I've been drooling to see decent renderings from these angles. Especially when there's some distance so the perspective flattens and gives a good idea of comparative size.

they certainly are a mess along water street, except for the lobby of my spouse’s old office bldg one water street at the seaport — unfortunately i see these paintings have been taken down for awhile, hopefully like just for cleaning and they return, but i dk —

I really, really wish the building would be as prominent/tall as that juicy rendering depicts it. It'll be slightly taller than 3 WTC, though will appear larger when viewed from the north.

It'll be 147 ft taller than Tower 3. On the other hand, the Freedom Tower will be 142 ft higher (to roof height) than Tower 2. An easy way to look at it is Tower 2 will be at or slightly higher than the top of the visible mechanical space near the top of the Freedom Tower. You could also throw the 1,080 ft Independence Plaza tower in that rendering.

Well, one thing that could be said is that this building has a lot of mass which gives it a presence. I did some snooping around, if I am correct tower 2 will be approximately the 66th tallest building in the world, and I believe it will be around the eight tallest in New York City.
But most importantly this building concludes the saga of the rebirth of the World Trade Center. That is wonderful news.

I mean 5 still has to be built but this definitely completes the defining pieces.

Just roughly off the top of my head, taller towers built or in motion in the city (not including zoned towers like Penn District and the Port Authority)...

1...Freedom Tower
2...(175 Park)
3...Central Park Tower
4...Steinway Tower
5...350 Park
6...One Vanderbilt
7...270 Park
8...30 Hudson Yards
9...Empire State Building
10...(possibly 80 W. 67th, which is undergoing study for 1,250 ft height)
10...or 2 WTC at 1,226 ft

That's just on what we know so far. Other towers in the works that we don't have heights for could change those rankings again.

Yes, it’s currently poised to be what it was originally conceived to be. However, I am very curious and somewhat frustrated as to why we don’t see any super tall apartment buildings similar to 57th St. proposed for the financial district. I must’ve missed something along the way I’ve been out of the New York area for about 13 years now so so I’m just just wondering what the reason is?

Those 57th Street towers are primarily for the views of Central Park.

Geez-Louise..... Does this tower have to be culminated with prosaic rectangles and squares?? I am not looking for Woolworth-Building type of grandeur but just some more imaginative effort that goes beyond rectilinear square motifs... just a little more than what is currently presented.

Thus, here is hoping that Foster in his advanced age realizes that this project may be his swan song and produces/reimagines a design more befitting of his legendary legacy....
