If this were to transpire, it certainly would signal that RJ plans to support the Wildcats as an elite team within the CHL well into the future. Having a training facility like this would certainly give confidence to elite American players thinking about coming north for a few years.

One would think a better place for such a facility would be on the vacant lot adjacent to the Avenir Centre where the Telegraph Building is. Perhaps this is unavailable.

Of course, Irving already owns the old T&T property, so land assembly is not a concern. The T&T property is somewhat restricted in what it can be used for because of the adjacent CNR mainline. I am pretty sure there would be no restrictions on this training facility.

If the rink(s) are to be rented out (which is probable), dare I raise the parking issue. People will roll their eyes, but, minor hockey players have large sports bags, and, convenient parking would certainly be an issue.

It's a unique shaped lot with a substantial border along the rail tracks. Also there's a lot of surface asphalt. If/when it's redeveloped, let's hope that someone with imagination can create something noteworthy.

A training rink would really elevate the Wildcat's franchise overall, and a pedway to the Avenir center would be fantastic.

I think one ice surface would allow a connected parking structure tying everything together, and make a very professional facility overall.

Hurray, finally!!! I go to the RCMP a few times a year for paperwork and the last few years the officer I meet with always talked about this project and the delays. Can't wait to check out the brand new and modern station.

City of Moncton has posted that the Codiac RCMP Headquarters building is now officially complete.

One wonders if the city will now begin on full steam planning for the relocation of the city market and the creation of new convention space as part of the Downing Street development. The city does tend to do one major project at a time (Avenir Centre -> RCMP HQ -> relocated market and convention centre).

New city of Moncton webcam on the roof of Assumption Place pointed towards the east:

This will give an excellent view of Infinity as construction progresses over the next several years.

Really enjoying this new webcam! Was about to say that about Infinity. Will we even be able to see the entire thing once its done or will it not fit in view?

It also offers a view of the building currently under construction on Lewis Street.

This looks pretty nice! A lot better than the new RCMP detachment in Cornwall, PE

That new webcam will even provide a view of the tidal bore, although the bore park one is the best. I've watched the surfers on it several times!

I wonder if the city put this webcam in place because of Infinity, or if this camera was a planned thing regardless?

It's the peregrine cam in "off season" mode.

Do we know how many stories this development is supposed to be? Any renders?

Thanks! Five stories isn't bad for something so close to Main Street, in an area with a lot of surface parking.

The nice thing aside from the fact that this was surface parking, is that the developer purchased the land (two parcels) from Heritage Properties. Hopefully we'll see more vacant/under developed land downtown acquired for development.

Had anyone noticed since they added the new Camera and did updates, none of the videos are clean. They are all choppy and feel like watching a bunch of still photos being updated every second. You definitely can't watch the tidal bore in them now with how laggy they are.

Found on Facebook.

Has anyone else seen this sign for Cafe X projected on the side of this office building in downtown Moncton? I have not noticed this, but it is genius advertising. Cafe X is located on the ground floor of the "Peace Centre" building on Church Street.

Moncton to demolish old police station, eyes redevelopment
Downtown businesses excited about potential of the site
Shane Magee · CBC News · Posted: Aug 10, 2026 6:00 AM ADT | Last Updated: 7 hours ago
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/new-brunswick/moncton-police-station-old-site-update-9.7299822

Quote:
Moncton plans to demolish a former police station and wants to see the prominent downtown site redeveloped.

It remains uncertain what may be built on the municipally-owned property at the corner of Main Street and Assomption Boulevard, or when.

Last week Codiac Regional RCMP moved out of the station at 520 Main St. to a new $59.2-million building on Albert Street.
Quote:
Aloma Jardine, a spokesperson for the city, confirmed last week the city will retain a contractor to demolish the building once the RCMP finish decommissioning the station. Jardine said the goal is to issue the tender by early September. After that, the city wants the site redeveloped.

"There is no current timeline for redevelopment or any specific plans at the moment," Jardine said in an email. "The matter will be brought forward to council for discussion and decisions on next steps."
Quote:
The city's 2017 downtown improvement plan, meant to guide development of the core, includes conceptual maps showing a new multi-storey building on the site.

The plan includes the property as part of the "corporate district" along Main Street. The conceptual maps show the site as one location for future landmark buildings.

The plan calls for the corporate district to allow ground floor retail and commercial, with residential on upper floors.
Quote:
The city has been preparing a new riverfront master plan, and Richard said the location could tie into that with a building offering views of the Petitcodiac River.

"So there's definitely some potential there for something quite impressive," he said.
This development site sits on one of the most prominent intersections in the downtown core, adjacent to Bore View Park and across from the Marriott Hotel. A major development is called for. Just think what could happen here if Lafford were interested........
