If this were to transpire, it certainly would signal that RJ plans to support the Wildcats as an elite team within the CHL well into the future. Having a training facility like this would certainly give confidence to elite American players thinking about coming north for a few years.
One would think a better place for such a facility would be on the vacant lot adjacent to the Avenir Centre where the Telegraph Building is. Perhaps this is unavailable.
Of course, Irving already owns the old T&T property, so land assembly is not a concern. The T&T property is somewhat restricted in what it can be used for because of the adjacent CNR mainline. I am pretty sure there would be no restrictions on this training facility.
If the rink(s) are to be rented out (which is probable), dare I raise the parking issue. People will roll their eyes, but, minor hockey players have large sports bags, and, convenient parking would certainly be an issue.
