Spirit Halloween has it leased for the upcoming season and may extend into Xmas. Have heard chatter that Regent has secured a permanent tenant for that space for the new year but nothing to report at this time

For now. The NBex Grounds PAC approval has buildings allowed to go up to 15 storeys in that area.

I saw on my way home last night that the pavement on the old ReCar lot(corner of Bishop and Hanwell) was all removed. Anybody know if this is site prep for another condo development or something else?

MindGames seems more aimed at the EBGames crowd than the MimiSo crowd. So it probably has a better chance of surviving, especially with TRU gone.

MartinMax feels like it will probably be the first to fall; it doesn't seem to have any recognition behind it like the other 3 chains have. It feels like it arrived without much fan faire and just 'exists'.

If anything, I'd say "Showcase" also plays in similar sales space as those other chains, though it's been around forever so it should be able to survive somehow.

Old house between Union and the Northside Trail in St. Mary's Ferry has been torn down, to make room for an apartment building & parking lot I believe. Mixed feelings on that one. I remember the backyard being a big dump, but it always hurts seeing shattered brick from an old building.

That bit of Union is rather dense and compact now, vertically and horizontally. A unique bit of the city, honestly.

Regent mall got approval to put in 8 new Tesla Superchargers. They will allow non-teslas to charge there.

There's site prep going on there now.

There's also site prep happening at 551 Clements Drive which is approved for two 34 unit apartment buildings.

Also, the foundation is in place for a large apartment building at the corner of DeMerchant and Cuffman.

The old ReCar was demolished this week and they’re excavating the site now. Anybody know what’s being built here? I haven’t seen anything in the PAC, but I’ll assume another condo development.

Workforce housing zoning applies to that area so I'm betting it's apartments. None of the projects under that zoning built to date have gone to PAC (Bishop Drive apartments, St. Mary's and Two Nations apartments and townhouses, apartments being built on the old Worrall's building).

That area could really use a grocery store. Where do people who live in Bishop Heights buy food? Isn't it considered a food desert at this point?

I go to Sobeys on Prospect and Walmart. I live in the neighbourhood. 5 min drive.

For people on Bishop, Walmart/Regent is just on the other end of the road, along with NoFrills and Sobeys, so it is fairly accessible.

But it does feel like there's a lot of development in Hanwell and out towards Silverwood now, to the point we could probably use a local commercial node in there; probably with another food market and pharmacy

A reliable source tells me that the construction on the corner of Bishop and Hanwell is going to be a six-story apartment building built by Cedar Valley Investments.

Happy to see a decision. I do not see that building holding significant historical value and I hope DND makes a move on this quickly. It is technically part of the "Fredericton Military Compound" and is named as one of the 4 buildings in the compound. This may complicate things, but Fredericton did the right thing by washing their hands of this building.
