Aside from the bigger watch parties, there were multiple pubs broadcasting the games, and some broadcasting in Spanish.

Calgary was never much of a soccer city until more recently. The large amounts of immigration in recent years has flipped things around rather quickly.

There's been a lot of Calgary lately, and this will be my last Calgary related post for a bit

Cowfolks riding electric scooters. It's a Stampede related Calgary custom and is probably the only place in the world where one would find this. A few of my pics from this year.
The classic sight is a Cowboy riding the scooter with his cowgirl behind him holding on. I wasn't able to snag a photo, maybe next year.

^ That is a pretty unique sight. I'd probably be taking a lot of pictures of this if I were in Calgary.

Looking down Arbutus St. towards Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains.
Kitsilano is a popular place to live for a reason.

I'm sorry but guys riding scooters with cowboy hats look like dorks. Especially if sporting a Fildebrant-ish beard.

Keep posting! It's nice to see fresh Calgary pics and always good to see people contributing to the forum. The Calgary recent skyline shots have been spectacular as well.

Your picture above is an excellent photo and perfect snapshot of human joy - and would be a perfect photo for Tourism Calgary.

And yes giallo, Kitsilano is one of the best neighbourhoods in the country with the added bonus that you can get a good workout with the walks up and down the hill to the beach.

It's Stampede week, lots of people wear cowboy hats and some of those people have beards, it's all part of the fun. Regardless of what people's opinions are it's something unique, especially for the out of country tourists.

As far as the women dressed up as cowgirls riding the scooters. That's uber cool, nobody can deny that

I caught the last few days of this year’s stampede and there were people wearing cowboy hats everywhere, it takes getting used to. Lol
I live in the world‘s most multicultural city, but there are lots of people here who still can’t wrap their head around somebody wearing a cowboy hat.

Anyhow, it was a blast, and I hope Calgary keeps up this tradition.

Cowgirls riding a scooter, walking or taking the bus is uber —.

I appreciate each of your posts, Zoomer! For me, an Eastern Canadian raised in Québec, Victoria has a certain unique, exotic quality, a very West Coast vibe conveyed by the materiality of the buildings, the shingles, some types of bay windows, and the lush vegetation. I went there one fall and felt transported to another world - your photos allow me to relive that feeling.

FYI, I shoot digital (Canon R5, with some stills or that 24-70mm lens)
And Québec & region absolutely deserve its own vacation, so you can wander around a little bit (Côte-du-Sud, Kamouraska, Charlevoix, chemin du Roy, national parks, etc.)

Thanks Masoliantekw - glad you enjoyed the pics. Even compared to Vancouver, Victoria has a different vibe/feel/look and pace and it's obvious the second you get off the ferry or arrive at the airport. Not better, but surprisingly enough of a difference to be very noticeable, even just based on the geography and natural surroundings never mind the obvious city differences.

When I eventually make it to Quebec I'll come asking for holiday recommendations. In the meantime keep posting your pics, please!

I think you will enjoy Marc-Antoine Dufault on Instagram, he's originally from Montreal I believe, now working in architecture in Victoria. He posts in French and while his photos are primarliy of Victoria (and foreign holidays) he also has lots of photos of Montreal and some Quebec. I assume from his visits back home. It's an interesting perspective that seems quite consistent regardless of the city he's in.
