This indicates that there will be a crown.

Although there will be office space on the lower floors, it would be nice to have a Stern here. They could easily incorporate granite or limestone with large glass windows on the lower floors and transition to more stone as the tower rises.

Michael Young/Yimby

This is consistent with the diagram that NY Guy previously posted.

The base should be the consistent five story height on both elevations. Hopeful for this project otherwise.

A crown is more than welcome, and would make the tower more distinctive. On a skyline that’s becoming increasinglybfilled with supertall towers, height is not enough. It’s still amazing that we are getting supertall towers on both the Upper East/West sides. Never thought it would happen on either.

I agree, though Extell’s UES and UWS projects are as far north as I would want them. The old architecture on both sides of the park should be the star of the show in my opinion.

From NYYimby (seems 1,182 may be the final height though)

Excavation Begins For 1,162-Foot Mixed-Use Supertall At 655 Madison Avenue On Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Quote:
Excavation is underway at 655 Madison Avenue, the site of a 74-story mixed-use supertall skyscraper on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Beyer Blinder Belle and developed by Extell, the 1,162-foot-tall structure will span 764,698 square feet and yield 154 condominium units with an average scope of 3,091 square feet. The project will also include approximately 233,000 square feet of office and retail space on the lower levels. The property is located at the northeast corner of Madison Avenue and East 60th Street.

Renderings from this angle will show how explosive the skyline has become...

My old neighborhood!

In that angle, there also will be the following substantial towers:

1. The unparalleled 350 Park;
2. 41 W 57th;
3. The Prada Tower;
4. The Wellington;
5. 570 Fifth;
6. 625 Madison; and last but not least
7. Stern's/Extell's UWS masterpiece

I have no faith in Soloviev a/k/a Vornado 2.0, and I pray that the Saudis will come through with 36 CPS.

Lots of other buildings are either rising or are almost certain to rise, but they won't be visible from that angle (e.g., 2 WTC, 70 HY, 346 and 343 Madison, 3 E 54th, 405-417 Park, 1 E 57th, etc.).

So this is going to be 380 ft taller than the adjacent RAMSA tower to the east. That's wild. This thing is going to look huge especially in that location.
