Absolutely, I agree 100% I felt that he was the most egregious of all the board members completely enriching himself to the point where he had to recuse himself more than any other board member due to conflicts of interest with all the projects going in front of the board within the district & him being a part of it. With that being said, it was mentioned in today’s meeting that they will be changing “conflicts” to comply and hopefully not open themselves up potentially to any legal issues in the future. From Fletcher’s remarks, it looks like they were surprised by his resignation, and it does in my opinion look like it is throwing the whole board into a tailspin now down two officers on the board.
Of course, today they gave praise to this ridiculous marketplace POS in the heart of downtown Tucson on how wonderful it is and on how much it’s a game changer to bring people and some sales tax along with a crappy boutique hotel to this area of downtown, it’s such a waste of a prime lot and opportunity in DT and I truly believe that it won’t even get built!! those developers do not have the money to build these projects, just look at their website. They’re still currently raising funds for other projects within Eugene itself and this Tucson project is one of there least ambitious projects on there website! I will say a majority of the meeting was about the issues with last weekends shooting and them rerouting some money for off-duty police officers that were going to be reduced starting August 1 with the new DTP budget. The CEO of DownTown Partnership is really putting together some plans to beautify downtown, make it safer and has other ideas for DT & I really did like her plans. She’s really trying to attract more people to DT that normally don’t go down to visit the city’s center with some new fresh ideas, and I really think if they put the money together, she can get it done.
Pueblo Vida is expanding into that rundown building next-door they bought and should be open within two months
Cornish Pastry needed to extend delivery due to the extensive work and delays with the building hopefully open for business by years end or beginning of 27. There was a lot of talk of their money issues and a lot of big projects coming up that RN was committed to already one of them is that Moxy Hotel project.
I’m always gonna root for downtown. I just hope for a different vision in the future. We all know it’s greatly needed!!!

I personally dont think RN money should go to places like Empire Pizza or Zenman's etc. That is not what RN is for. They should be focusing on large scale legacy projects. Restaurants open and close all the time. TCC might have needed improvements but its one of the ugliest looking convention centers from the outside now with weird hotels attached, parking structures in parking lots, the allowance of the suburban Flinn Apts that should have at least included retail. He's gotten too big for his britches now that he owns the Sugar Skulls, has a podcast, etc.
And can we talk about the design of the Tucson Marketplace. Its a slop of plaza and buildings. No foresight, architecture or cohesion. Its just individual buildings and plazas lined up one after the other. Its awful...and its a full 13 minutes away from the Tucson Spectrum with the same horrible layout and stores too. No one is designing in this town. Even the Tucson Premium Outlets have a better format than these places. Tucson disappoints again.
