The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of options to address the
encroachments onto city lands in the Attawandaron Road area, and to provide an update
on amendments to the Medway Valley (South) Conservation Master Plan as directed by
Council which will be brought forward to a future meeting of Planning and Environment
Committee for consideration.
Staff recommend retaining the lands for public purposes (Option 1) and resuming
enforcement of the remaining encroachments in accordance with existing by-laws and
policies. Maintaining the current enforcement approach reinforces the City’s legal
authority over public land, preserves parkland and public open space for its intended
municipal and community purposes, and is a consistent approach taken on municipal
enforcement of encroachments within City ESA’s.
Once direction regarding the encroachments has been received, a report to Planning
and Environment Committee, including a public participation meeting can be scheduled
to consider amendments to the Conservation Master Plan. A draft by-law and concept
plan are provided, which will be circulated for public feedback.

Council votes down proposal to negotiate with homeowners on ways to keep their encroachment on city park land.

Options are dwindling for residents of a north London neighbourhood who have been fighting to keep the length of their backyards that extend onto city-owned land.

At Tuesday's city council meeting, councillors voted 9-4 against a part of a motion that asked city staff to explore ways that neighbours of Attawandaron Park could maintain their gardens, sheds and other backyard belongings that technically cross over the edge of the park.

The biggest gap in the network is the Medway Valley. This hole if finally built will open up the existing trails up to Foxfield and Sunningdale and connect to Western and the rest of the TVP.


This should be on the agenda for the upcoming municipal election in October and candidates should be questioned on their support or lack there of for getting it done.

Citynews story on phase 1 of opening up gap in the Don Valley trail system in Toronto. The benefits of filling in these gaps cannot be overstated.


With the election coming this Oct what are London City Hall candidates positions on solving the gap on our city's trail system thru the Medway Valley.


A small handful of vocal selfish NIMBYS cannot be allowed to prevent this necessary multi-use path connection thru the Medway Creek valley.

Updated cycling guide app story. Nothing but crickets on the Medway Valley gap in our cycling active transportation network.

There is a municipal election in a few months what are candidates positions on getting this gap built? Building this gap opens up existing Foxfield and Sunningdale paths. The gateway bridge over Richmond St has also gone quiet for some reason which would open up Arva and future neighbourhoods east of Richmond and north of Sunningdale.

I am going to keep banging the pot on getting a pedestrian/bike bridge built over Medway creek to link Gainsborough with Windermere. It makes no sense that there are four pedestrian crossings of Medway creek between Fanshawe Park Road and Sunningdale, but ZERO south of Fanshawe Park Road.
