Porter Airlines is adding a new link between Hamilton and Canada's capital with the launch of nonstop service to Ottawa International Airport (YOW).

Service begins June 22, with two daily flights operated by Porter's 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. The route gives Hamilton travellers convenient access to Ottawa, while also connecting to 11 destinations through Porter’s YOW hub.

The latest from Porter/Air Transat

They are launching new Transat packages that combine Porter non-stop flights to Nassau, Grand Cayman, Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, with "packages feature a curated selection of hotels in each destination, with a mix of all-inclusive and European Plan offerings depending on the property".
New packages will be available from Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton for travel on or after November 1, 2026.

Porter launches new Hamilton routes to Winnipeg, St. John’s

Porter Airlines is continuing to expand its presence in Hamilton, adding new nonstop service to Winnipeg and St. John’s this week.

Flights from John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport to both cities officially began Thursday, with up to six roundtrips per week. Service to St. John’s is expected to increase to daily flights by late June, Porter said.

The new additions expand Porter’s growing network out of Hamilton, where the airline launched service in 2025.

The Winnipeg route departs Hamilton daily at 7 a.m. and arrives at 8:25 a.m. local time. Return flights leave Winnipeg at 6:55 p.m., arriving in Hamilton at 10:09 p.m.

Flights to St. John’s depart Hamilton at 9:10 a.m. and arrive at 1:50 p.m., while return service leaves Newfoundland at 2:45 p.m. and lands in Hamilton at 4:50 p.m.

Both routes will be operated on Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

It was previously mentioned that the YEG and YYC flights have been downgraded to summer seasonal. Were the expectations a bit too high for these routes?

Anyone know what projects they are continuing to work on at the airport? Every two to 5 4 minutes a large gravel truck shows up at the airport and enters the gate by the tower. This has been going on for several weeks now.

The are replacing runway 06-24. It is the one that runs north south and is the shorter one. They are removing everything under it and going down at least 3 feet. At least that is what it looks like when I went by on the Porter flight I was on. I was told they are strengthening the runway for heaver plans while they have the money. I expect it is preparation for the lengthening of it. I would then be a cheaper project as the will not have to do it all.
