Yes, at 2.5%, it's enacted since 2023 until 2030 also covering other international events.

I watched a clip about what people spent for the world cup and a guy from England I think it was was staying 33 nights in Vancouver and he was paying $1500 a night. The clip didn't specify if it was a hotel or Airbnb, but yikes, that's crazy.

That's insane. $50000 for 33 nights? Even during the world cup, at that price you could rent out an entire house in the British Properties.

There are whole mansions in Whistler that go on VRBO and Airbnb for less money per month

Why is someone from England spending 33 nights in Vancouver for World Cup? The team didn't ever play here. I could understand someone from Switzerland being in Vancouver for that length of time.

And never once wanted to explore more of BC? A side trip to Whistler or Victoria, or something?

finally some law and order for our tax money, this is one of the main and most important functions of government... law enforcement and keeping the citizens safe from crime and disorder

Good to know that ABC's theatrics actually work hook, line and sinker for some people.

Soccer's a religion for some people... and not the "once a week" kind, the cultlike kind that makes you blow $50k on a month-long overseas pub crawl. Many venues outside the fanzones and with no TVs saw a drop in revenue this summer.

I mean, I'm glad we had a party, but it sure seems we could've had the same party without hosting games, and then $600m+ could've gone to something more important.
