Rechler insists that, on balance, RXR is in a stronger place.

He suggested the firm is close to a breakthrough at 175 Park Avenue, a nearly 1,600-foot-tall office and hotel tower it is planning next to Grand Central. The building is anticipated to cost a staggering $6.5 billion, and RXR has applied for $4.8 billion of federal loans that it could qualify for because the project includes plans for upgrades to the surrounding transit infrastructure at the site.

Rechler said he had met with President Trump who had “taken an interest in” the project and claimed that RXR will be “breaking ground this year” on the development.

I wonder how the dynamic lighting scheme will work on the new Commodore Tower? Considering that 1 Vandy and 270 Park Ave SPECTACULARLY complement ESB lighting celebrations, it prominence to the right of the angles below ought to be deeply considered.

Sometime over the next year I just want to hear that this is definitely being built and that the highest occupied floor is indeed 1,500+ feet.

Seems (a little) far fetched but fingers crossed.

They had a meeting this morning in the hotel. Not much breakthrough and they announced that there won’t be closure and demolition in 2026 or 2027. They are actually planning to do hotel renovations

This doesn't surprise me, as stated before this project is just a glorified pipe dream that seemed a bit more legit at first.

It's okay though, the more I look at it the more I don't really like the design, I think it would be better if the tapering wasn't so pronounced and the crown wasn't transparent.

I'm guessing that they really need a major lease commitment for them to move forward. I hope it does move forward as I like the building.

It seemed that they had the lease, and it somehow fell through because RXR can't seem to raise the $600m they need which is delaying the project.

It will be interesting to see where Societe Generale ends up. I wonder if they can fit in the site that Extell is assembling at 405 Park. It would be really nice if they could anchor HYII so that can get moving.

Probably not as is, although Mtb, where did you hear this and is there a source (like article or something?).

You have no information whatsoever about this. Further, you glaze Chicago projects that have no hope of being built, and yet, you cast doubt on every New York project. You seem like a nice guy, but your unfounded pessimism about New York is unwarranted.

I'm generally quite pessimistic about any US project these days given past track records although I could be wrong.

I may not have information against this project but there's also no information confirming it will happen either yet so until then a 1,600+ foot tower breaking ground this year in NYC seems like a shot in the dark.

I still hope that 175 Park Ave. will be built and won’t go down in history as yet another abandoned skyscraper project, for whatever reason. After all, wouldn’t it be great if, after almost 100 years, another New York landmark were to rise into the sky here?

175 Park Ave. will be a landmark tower in the Midtown Manhattan skyline.

Ok buddy. If they’re planning to do hotel renovations, on a building tgat may begin demolition before said renovayions are complete, that’s stupid.

RXR is awaiting the federal funding that will cover the bulk of this project, tenant signing or not, that’s what they’re waiting on. They will still need another loan to complete the project, but I don’t think they will start with the smaller loan, though that does happen.

But there has neen no news because there is no news. When news comes, you’ll get it. BTW, all the whining naysayers don’t get to celebrate when this begins. You’ve been canceled.
