The craft beers are really good, and although I wouldn't call the food exceptional, it's better than most pub fare.

I've never been to their Hargrave St. Market location. How are they doing there? Is it the same model as the firehouse in Kenora? Would the Tavern United location be a step up for them?
They should see if they can do something in the building Mayberry Art used to be in. It literally has "Lake of the Woods Milling" on the front. Would be nice to have another brewery option in the West Exchange other than LBJ. It's right next to the Pal and Dreams & I imagine would be fairly busy on weekends/bar nights.

Considering the Jets owner has the master agreement for Shake Shack in Canada through Osmington Inc I have long been on watch for where it will appear in downtown Winnipeg near the arena. The Jets are heavily into vertical integration of any auxiliary revenue sources and stacking the Winnipeg Shake Shack into the arena district would make sense on some level.

In terms of the former Tavern location, I wonder if it might get split into two restaurants with the patio and upper floor going one way and the street level and perhaps a different upper floor going a different way.

The downtown Tavern also heavily took advantage of the old reentry policy for events, especially Jets games, where it was cheaper and quicker to grab a beer at intermission at the Tavern. Also Shark Club opening up had to hurt them too.

Longboat is/was the Chipman owned real estate development corporation.

Also in the Tavern building when it opened was the local Ticketmaster call center/office. I am not sure if that is still a thing as times have changed a lot since then.

In terms of Tavern, a move to the corner of Portage and Donald definitely makes sense. I've speculated before that with Dollar Tree leaving it would be a prime location for a restaurant/bar especially if they could negotiate with TNSE to have the second floor access open as an entry point for events in the arena.

Stella's posted a photo of 360 Main on the Instagram and said we have a secret and we are planning something big.

Intersting. I was going to predict Stellas would take over the Tavern Space.
Maybe they are going to take over OEB? (not that I have heard anything about them moving out)

I sure hope not. OEB is way better than Stellas.

In the comments Stella’s said that it’s gonna be a coffee shop in the lobby. They’re not taking over OEB or Earls

is that the location were a few years ago an eviction notice was posted on a door of a business (I think a proposed hair salon) that never even finished up their build out to open up?

I was last by there two years ago and including that one there were two side by side units available for rent.

No it’s on the end where 330 meets 300 sorry I meant to say 330 not 360. Dunno where they would setup in 360 unless it’s down in the Square. But those units could be contenders sure. I haven’t been there in a while.

It could be in one of those open units across from the GoodLife. That salon you speak of is closer down by 330 Main around the corner on the way to the SkyWalk.

If they're taking that space, it would be rather it be something like a Le Croissant to go cafe, or one of the other local coffee roasters.

Seems that labeling this as something 'big' is a bit of misnomer.

Unrelated, anyword on the opening of the restaurant at Zu on Osborne?

Yes! The big restaurant is Sottobraccio, an Italian concept by the owners of Harth, already open:

And the one that's being worked on is Sierra, a coffee shop and lounge, still not open but things seem to be getting close (patio is coming together and peeking inside the interior fit out seems to be moving ahead).

Thanks.
Reading the review seems like a pretty upscale place.

Stella’s planning café near Portage, Main

Winnipeg restaurant chain Stella’s is planning to open a café at 330 Main St., this fall.

Located near the iconic Portage Avenue and Main Street intersection, in the same building as GoodLife Fitness, the café will focus on grab-and-go items such as paninis, focaccia pizza, sandwiches, salads and freshly baked goods.

The 1,100-square-foot café will have 30 seats and employ 12 to 15 people, said Rob Del Grosso, vice-president of operations. Stella’s expects to get possession of the space on Sept. 1 and plans to open in November.

“We’re excited,” Del Grosso said. “We’re continuing to grow and there’s been significant interest in the Stella’s Café concept.”

It’s the chain’s fourth café. It also has seven restaurants, a catering service and two Kevin’s Bistro eateries.

Thunderbird has re-opened. Sign said July 7. Looked busy. I've lived in the general area for decades and have never been and have only heard bad things.
