The 401 in KW is weird. It goes from 2 lanes (there is ALWAYS a lane closed off in some place or another, and has been the case ever since I moved to London in 2005) to 4+1 lanes (4 lanes + HOV). Smooth flowing then bottlenecks. And those goddamn orange and black road pylons...lord how I hate those things (which hang around for months and sometimes even years after projects are completed).

View looking easterly along Hwy 401 from Whites Road in Pickering from a nicer day than today. And yes, the light trails are from moving vehicles.

Looks like the other side got done first, and I count one more collector lane there. Are they adding another in this direction with the work as well?

If so we can 'one more lane bro' it

(great pic, as always thanks for taking and sharing)

Insane crash on the 401 where the freeway narrows considerably. Rightmost lane is a dedicated exit, lane next to it ends right after the exit

View looking east from the Progress Avenue overpass over the 401 in Scarborough. The concrete pavement of the eastbound collector lanes has been exposed due to a construction project. Interestingly, the current lane alignment doesn't match the 1970s era concrete that was first built. From the looks of things, the collector lanes were pulled to the south to allow for a longer transfer between the express to collector lanes. The original 1970s collectors ended at this transfer:

Has it come to the point the concrete surface is already subpar? I guess the first collector/express extension west of the 410 was done some time ago.

I don't like HOV lanes when there are express lanes... Especially in stretches where there are just 2 general lanes. Trucks can occupy both of these lanes and slow down flow considerably.

(As always, cool pic, thanks for sharing!)
