I was in Germany visiting relatives in summer '86 cheering on "my team", which was not Canada. During the final we were in Munich, and I exulted when we came back from a 2-goal deficit, and was heartbroken when we lost. But Canada was on no one's radar as a contender, and isn't even now. But Canada should be proud of how far it has come.
You are still a child. I was 24 when Canada punched it's ticket to the WC in St John's. It was pretty exciting then, but we had no idea how far behind in talent we were back then. We've come a long way!

Dear God,

I know I'm not really religious, can you please let Belgium hold off the Americans for 45 more minutes.

Amen

I think some people were being way too hard on Davies for dealing with injuries.

If he felt he could have actually helped the team win the other day, I think he would have played.

I appreciate the thoughtful words of his post... and ESPECIALLY appreciate his usage of the word football instead of the word soccer.

I still think we missed an opportunity to upstage the US and infuriate Trump by not having Canada Soccer change its name to the Canadian Football Association before the start of the tournament... but it's never too late to make that official change to the proper terminology.

Americans look worse than we did against the Moroccans. At least we played with some energy, the Americans looked lethargic and disinterested.

The Trump card 🧧🔖 turned out to be an albatross.

I hope Morocco wins the World Cup, so Canada went out to the best.

Morocco is also the only team left with a Canadian on the roster, Yassine Bounou, born à Montréal. 🇨🇦⚜️🇲🇦

Morocco vs Colombia would be the ultimate final, since it’s always great to see a first time Champion— and see Europe lose! 🏳️🇪🇺

Yeah, the US looked really bad for most of the game - outplayed, out-maneuvered, always trying to catch up to Belgium, who really controlled the pace of the game from start to finish.

It was a pleasure to watch, especially after Agent Orange inserted his feeble ego into the game by bringing back that striker who wasn't supposed to play (because you know, FIFA isn't corrupt at *all*).

🞵🞵🞵🞵 YOU DONALD TRUMP!!!!

This is what you get for meddling into FIFA business by pressuring your friend Infantino.

The Gods have smiled on you again.

A humiliating 4-1 loss to Belgium.

Trump just keeps winning, and winning, and winning...........

Both Mexico and Canada looked better in the round of 16 than the USA did.

If Morocco starts the first half like they did against Canada, they are going to lose badly. Canada couldn't capitalise on their chances. France will.

Right now, out of the 6 teams that have qualified for the quarter-finals, 5 are European nations. If Switzerland beats Colombia tomorrow (i don't think they will), that number will go up to 6 out of the 8. Odds are it's going to be a European nation that takes it.

France-England for the final is my bet. The Brits beating Mexico in the Azteca was no small feat. That was a heck of a game yesterday. They look primed to lift the trophy this time around, but you can never count out the French either. It will be an interesting 12 days coming up, that's for sure.

I think it's disgusting how you "Canadians" root against America to make yourselves feel better. I do feel bad that you are stuck with another WEF government and hope and pray for nothing but the best for Canadians in the future. I really hope y'all wake up and get back to the Canada I knew growing up! If the country is that far gone, do the right thing and set Alberta free; she's a beauty and deserves better!

Blackstar again? That guy sent me extremely disturbing messages. Something is very wrong with that guy. He probably has other burner accounts on this site.

Haha. Ol' Blackstar just can't stay away, can they? It's so, so sad.

The cognitive dissonance one would need to possess to not understand why Canadians are currently rooting against the US in a soccer match must be massive. A steady diet of Newsmax will do that.

The sloppy second Canadian teams are the ones that play with skates and sticks.
So in the last 40 years Canadian teams have won one NBA championship and one championship in a second tier soccer league. I don't think that supports your point as much as you think.

It’s not too bad.
That's also stupid. Who wants to follow a league with a 2 month pause int he middle of the season?

Where there's a natural 2 month (actually, 3-4 month) pause due to weather, that's the off season.
