Sort of related - Ontario is raising the speed limit on most of its remaining freeways to 110km/h, with a few exceptions. This includes parts of the Trans Canada around Ottawa.

This makes Quebec the slowest jurisdiction for freeway speed limits in the western world, at only 100km/h.

I believe they also have a speed limit of 100 on Freeways in Newfoundland

I actually just searched this a couple days ago to see if there was any movement at all, and sadly, don’t expect anything.

Most recent news was from November last year, when Steven Guilbeault was presented with the petition (which sadly less than 800 people signed, so strange because I hear so much grumbling about it. Classic Canadian). Of course Guilbeault pretty much said that there has been no movement or even discussion about continuing the twinning through Yoho Park. Honestly makes me so angry.

Perhaps about 75 km, but that has only increased by about 40km since the early 1980s. That's adding about 1 km per year, or less, I think (not bad 'bys, but I hear there is construction outside Foxtrap that is perpetual).

There is 87km of the Trans Canada at freeway standards out of St John’s right now, with plans for 40km more:

There are a few smaller freeway stretches in Corner Brook and Grand Falls too.
